Stuck In Elevator, My Worst Nightmare Came True.

I always have a fear of getting into elevators, and recently it really became my worst nightmare. We have this old fashioned elevator where we manually open and close the doors. I entered the elevator and shut the doors and pressed the floor button. The elevator was supposed to takeoff the very moment but it was motionless, I guessed it was due to the doors not being shut properly as its the case at times. So instantly I pulled the first door to slide it back with force so the lift takes off, but something unexpected happened. The lift took off and it got stuck in between two floors with the inside door half open. It was like having a heartattack instantly, I screamed so loud that my husband on the fifth floor heard my voice. I started panicking and begging to help me get out. Complete silence for a moment and a voice with my name, It felt like God saying don't worry I am coming. My husband had arrived He then with the help of our neighbours got me out of the elevator, it was like getting out of the dragons mouth. From now on no matter which floor I have to reach, I Am Never Going To Use The Elevator Again.

That is scary. I always take the security boy with me if I have to go to high floor

You sound like me I have always hated elevators. Luckily many years back when I lived with my mom in NYC we had an old building with a large elevator and that one always worked well. Other than that if I don't have far to go I go up the stairs. Now I am in a two-story house and no elevator yay

I wish we too had our house on the 2nd floor but that's not going to change my decision of not using the elevator. Good you never had to face anything like I did earlier when you stayed with your mom and now there is no question of it being faced

Years ago, I used to work for a hotel. And I had to use the elevator a lot. But I never got stuck in the elevator, fortunately for me. I never was afraid of getting stuck in the elevator either. However, I'm sure that if I had gotten stuck once or more, I would have started to fear getting stuck everytime I had to use it.

That was nice that you never came across any such situation or else it would be really hard to overcome the fear, as it was your job routine you would not have any option but to use the elevator regularly.

I am more in fear of the ones that go so fast that I feel like my stomach is back two floors but I think you are right to avoid the elevator.

@kavinitu In some places you have no choice, you cannot take the steps, you are obliged to use the elevator.

@LadyDuck Yeah that's true, if the destination is 10th or above floor then you don't have a choice. 10th is also too much
