What part of ...... don't you understand?

I wrote about our Australian friend who gave the waiter a tip he wasn’t expecting. This guy worked as head groundsman at the school where my husband was the bursar (business manager). He gave Vince quite a hard time in many ways although he was a great worker and leader and had many good ideas. At one point, he overspent his budget and Vince took his order book from him but he just kept booking things up.
The situation built up to the point where they had an argument in the middle of the school oval. Apparently Vince was shouting “what part of ‘don’t spend any more bl**dy money’ don’t you understand”. However they got over their differences and life went on.
When Vince left the school, he was farewelled at the school’s Christmas function. The guy told Vince he had something to say to him. Vince didn’t know what to expect but thought the guy would probably have some harsh words to say. But all he said was ‘Vince, I think I love you’ and then he kissed him on both cheeks. Very un-Australian from such a rough diamond but that was the sort of guy he was. Some people occasionally act very differently to what we’re expecting. Edit: We're still good friends with this man and see him from time to time.
The photo is a random one of moss on rocks.

Yes, they do. In this case the person always knew that Vince was malicious and had a personal grudge,at least that's what I feel.
Very often it's the students who I keep on scolding who become emotional at farewells.

@responsiveme I thought it seemed a strange sentence for you to write then I thought I couldn't have been clear with my meaning. I'm glad that is sorted. More and more lately, I keep leaving out the words that give the negative. I write 'do' instead of 'don't' and 'are' instead of 'aren't' and it gives the totally opposite meaning so I do know what you're saying as it happens to me. So please don't worry about it any more.

@JudyEv oh dear ,I made a very very big typo...It should have been Vince was NOT and HADN'T...
Or its the horrible auto correct on my mobile which changes the sentence.
I would NEVER write such hurting sentences like that.
My last sentence was about students knowing who doesn't have personal animosity but scolds for what is right.
So sorry, my apologies

That would have been funny considering it wasn't what Vince was expecting at all and it was so out of character for the other man.

It sounds like Vince might have become a father figure or something to him. Glad you are still friends.

They had a very mutual respect for each other. It was easier to be friends once Vince was no longer the 'boss'.

From what I know of Australians they fight with each other until they become best friends! My brother used to have a dog called 'Moss'. He was a big soppy German Shepherd.
PS: What's an 'Ocker'?

An Ocker is a rough and ready Australian. That's probably the best definition. This friend speaks slow and really calls a spade a shovel. He has no airs and graces.
