Odd Reviews

So here's some odd reviews lately. Seeing as life has been interesting lately I have been eating in my car more.
On my way to my parents place I needed to stop for groceries for them. And it was around noon. I decided to grab something from the deli counter to eat on the way there. I looked around. "Firecracker" chicken sandwich. $5? I was a little alarmed. for a cold cut style sandwich? I knew I could go to McDonald's and order a meal (with fries and a drink) for about the same. But something just looked so good about this unassuming sandwich. So, I grabbed a can of chips , and a bottle of water and ta da! Ready to go meal.
Well I must say I was very pleasantly surprised. The sandwich was fantastic and much more satisfying than the McDonald's option. I wouldn't hesitate to do that again.
Yesterday I had eaten a larger, later dinner (noon meal).... and had been invited to a friend's for light food in the evening, but I still knew I would want a little something so I wouldn't be absolutely ravenous at my friend's place. Enter snacks from the $1 store.
My first buy was the off - brand "peach rings". A gummy that I had wanted to try for awhile. I was concerned that the flavor wouldn't be strong enough, because, you know, store brand. I couldn;t have been more wrong. The flavor was almost obnoxious it was so strong. And some of the pieces were discs, not rings, not that I cared. Next time, think I will try the name brand.
Enter the store brand Walnuts. These were great, large pieces in about a 1/2 cup serving for $1. Would happily buy again.
Hope everyone is keeping safe and warm in the cold snap!

I use to be a huge fan of gummy candies. I dont know why I outgrew them. I eat them when they are available but I don't buy them.

Sometimes that happens. As a kid I used to love Fun dip. As an adult I am not thrilled

That pic does look good, doesn't it? I wish they had those candies there. lol.
I know it can be a bit nerve wracking - but I have heard that the off brands are usually made at the same place as anything else, just packaged differently.

I have to grab snacks sometimes when I am out mystery shopping. I usually bring something from home..but once in awhile I will grab something. Oftentimes I luck into the shops offering some food though..which of course I always avail myself of..

You're having a lot of great food luck. Maybe you should see if it transfers to lottery tickets.
No need to stay warm here anymore. The temperature is zooming up. It's all the way up to -16 right now. I'm thinking about opening a window. And starting on Saturday, it's supposed to be in the 40s and 50s until Tuesday. Time to turn on the AC.

@FayeHazel I thought it was just me! $1 and $2 make me feel great, too!
Overheating is a big danger. As soon as it hits 40, I'm taking everything off!

Lol! Yeah maybe I should at least try one of those scratch offs. Maybe I will do that tomorrow :-D
-16? Regular spring time weather there. Break out the shorts and flip flops. lol.
40s and 50s above? I know they were saying 30s 40s here for the weekend, now that has changed to 20-30 but even that sounds downright tropical

@arthurchappell Oh cool what kinds of things do your pound stores have?
True "dollar stores" where everything is a dollar - they usually have things like - paper goods, cleaners, toys, cards, bath items, décor, candy, sodas, small food items (chips, pasta, canned vegetables, )

Ah yes, that is true. I admit every once in awhile I get a craving for the fish sandwich, nuggets, or breakfast sandwhich - but usually I'm not thrilled with McD.
The "Hunger Games" were a great series of movies

@FayeHazel Yes they were. Although as with most sequels the first was the best one...
