A family got kicked off their flight because of Body odor.

There are 2 sides to this story. The passengers of a plane voted out a whole family composed of a mom,a dad and their baby because of body odor. Passengers complained that either the dad or the mom didn't take a shower. So they were taken off the flight. The dad is now making a complaint that this is racism against him because he is jewish. A huge number of Americans though are Jews so I don't think it's about religion. Do you think what the airlines did is unfair? If the problem is odor, they could have given them baby wipes and cologne to get rid of the odors. Have you been in a bus or plane next to a person with body odor?
A Southfield family trying to return home from vacation in Miami was kicked off a flight Wednesday after other passengers complained about their body odor, a...

I think it's unfair to expect someone else to sit next to them for a prolonged period in a confined space. Having said that, as you suggested, I'm sure another solution could have been arrived at which allowed everyone to fly. As for it being racism it actually disgusts me that people resort to playing the race card for anything and everything. Some people seem to think that being from a minority group gives them a right to sail through life immune to criticism for their crappy behaviour. It potentially devalues and trivialises reports of actual racism.

They might be following Brad Pitt's lifestyle of quitting soap. He now bathes with vinegar and baking soda.

There was a woman who got on board and sat next to me with the most foulest odor. People all around were complaining and soon she was escorted off yelling. She had B.O. and smelled like she wet herself many times and did number 2. How she passed screening and got that far I have no idea. Don't spray perfume. That too can clog the sinuses and does not mask bad odor. Take a shower. Wear deodorant.

some people with poor hygiene are not aware they stink because they got desynthesized with the odor of their body. Some people have issues with deodorant because they are cancerous but organic deodorants exist now.

@CaptAlbertWhisker From what I read about these people, all stunk so that means no baths for awhile and each other had to have smelled something. There are organic deodorants too.

@noni1959 Angelina Jolie is rumored to dumped Brad Pitt because he quits soaps and deodorants. He cleans his self with a concoction of Baking soda, vinegar and essential oils which makes him stink.

I am sure baby wipes fresh clothes and cologne could have worked.

I think the airlines did the right thing. Some people, like myself, have very sensitive noses and can't take bad smells. Also, it was not racist.

I am sure there could be other Jewish passengers on the plane.

@CaptAlbertWhisker I would like to say something. I was not there and I assume you weren't either we do not know the real truth of what happened and why they were kicked off the plane. Maybe we will never know.

The airline wanted to satisfy the greater good. If majority of the people voted to kick them off then that's what had to be done. As long as they received a refund or another flight or something like that then it's not so bad. Also if it was done respectfully, politely and professionally. I mean come on, imagine yourself in the situation. The odor had to be TERRIBLE for it to make such a drama. I hate to say it but I probably woulda voted them off too as long as it wasn't in s barbaric way.

@CaptAlbertWhisker same. But they brought it on themselves I guess.

I think it is the responsibility of the service providers to try to break even and make everyone comfortable but it seems it was easy for them to kicked this family out for what ever reasons they considered was correct to them. May be airlines should add it to their list of cautions that people with body odor will not be accepted on board. and lets see how that affects them. they could also embark on passenger body purification or whatever detoxing procedure upon boarding or gets some spray that neutralises all other smell in every aircraft and live just that which might be generally accepted or comfortable for all Yes Its may be of no bodies fault that those passengers had B.O. and also no one had to suffer for this. i hope they were refunded. i do not think they deserved to be thrown out like dirt.

What makes me feel bad about is that this family have a baby with them. Imagine the discomfort this baby may have experience just because they dont like how his dad smells.

Theory is they might be one of those anti-soap hippies who clean themselves with vinegar and baking soda.

@CaptAlbertWhisker I was not there so I cannot say if it was true or not. Yes I read about them and what happened and they had a little child. That is very sick if you ask me. They were religious Jews.

@CaptAlbertWhisker We are a minority everywhere and what you are saying has nothing to do with anything. It could be anti-Semitism because they were religious Jews or it could be because the odor was too much. I believe only the family and the airlines and the people on the plane may or may not know the reason they were kicked off. Like you said you do not know and you do not know if it was Anti-Semitism or not.

The incident may be too much but we just can't please everybody with our actions and we must also remember that not at all times or most of us adjust or understand the shortcoming we have. This reminds me of one of our visit to Davao City here. Some of us were delighted to bring the Durian fruits back home because that fruit is famous there but we can't. Just imagine its strong odor in a closed van we are boarding.

Singapore banned eating durian in public places and it is encouraged to be eaten at home after a woman decided to eat durian inside an mrt.

People in different countries, because of different living habits and eating habits, others will feel different body flavor, and will be very uncomfortable. There is no sense of racial discrimination. Nevertheless, I still hope that people all over the world will not discriminate against any ethnic group! There are things that go with us when we are born, and we can't change them ourselves. I don't know much English. I hope my friends can understand it.
