My Little Man

My little man is so regal. He’s king of his domain, and we miss him so much. Doodles is living at his daddy’s house while we are in Florida. His daddy claims to have taught him everything he knows. For instance: *Doodles sits on command *Doodles will lay down on command *Doodles will jump up on command *Doodles will catch a treat or stuffed animal when tossed with his paw or claws *Doodles will walk off leash outdoors *Doodles understands many commands such as: out, time to eat, let’s go, no, run, brush your cheeks, where is (Grammy, Grampy, Mommy, Daddy, Daddy’s car, Grammy’s car, Grampy’s car, Mommy’s car, toy, Mr. Baby, Mr. Goosie, no big bad car, get it, time to go in...) I personally taught Doodles how to crunch, crunch his treats rather than swallow them whole, and to keep from going into the woods when out for a walk. All good, you think? Nope. Doodles controls us by speaking words that sound human or sitting and staring at us for as long as it takes to get us to do what HE wants. He’s the KING of us! But we love him anyway,

Tony`s cat talks to me. He will say come on. Tony said he heard him say ma ma, I did not. I can bet he knew all these things when he went to "the sons" house.

Those are far too many orders for a cat to follow. I thought only dogs could be trained. Our first Lolly only knew how to loll around (lol)

Our kittens go outside with us and come back in with us and so far have not left the yard. I guess that is training them.

Oh, was Lolly ever adorable! Lived up to her nickname, too! . Doodles does act more like a dog than the cat he is.

My cat says Mama and it's so cute, although confusing at times when I think my kids are calling me!

. That is so cute and could be very, very confusing. We had a Siamese cat who said mama all the time. I can't tell you how many times I had to run up the stairs to see if it was my younger son crying for me during his nap times after nursery school. I was skinny then. .

When I was a kid, we had a cat that I swore on many occasions actually said words, or what sounded like words. Maybe there is something behind that and I wasn't just imagining things! One cool thing our cat could do was reach up and grab the door knob and open the door by himself to go outside. He couldn't open it to get back in, but he had no problem opening it to go outside!

@DianneN Yes, they are very smart, and very observant! We used to do a lot of fishing in the lake behind our house, and our cat would watch us reel in the fish and place them in the bucket to keep until we were ready to go home and clean and cook them. It got to the point where we would reel in the fish, pull it off the hook, and then toss the fish on the ground for the cat. He would pick the fish up in his mouth and take it over and put it in the bucket. He was so smart! I also loved the fact that every morning my cat would walk with me from the house to the bus stop down the street. And then every afternoon when the bus dropped me off, he would be waiting for me at the bus stop!

@moffittjc OMG! That was one extremely bright and kind cat. I'm surprised he didn't eat any. Your cat was brilliant! Sounds more like a dog than a cat. Doodles has deductive reasoning skills. Way to many to go into here, but one which was funny is that he noticed how the birds would eat the berries that fell from a tree. If he stalked them, they would fly away. So he hid in the bushes next to the tree and waited for the birds to come to eat the berries. You know the rest. lol

That is cool! Doodles does say "another one" when he wants more treats and actually says what distinctly sounds like yeah and out. Cats are natural music lovers, so perhaps they have an ear for the spoken language. Doodles has tried to open many doors that way, but unfortunately for him, our door handles don't work that way. Does bursting through a screen to chase a bird count? We had a cat that jumped on a counter to press the open button on a screen sliding door, pushed it open a little, jumped down, and opened it enough to fit through to go out. The other two cats and dog followed her. They are amazing little stuffed animals to be able to do all they can do, and are very, very smart.

@DianneN He is relatively content today. He seems to like it best when I am hanging around the living room with him. He isn't keen on being by himself I have noticed.

@CarolDM Yes, and he likes being king. He barely tolerated his own sister.. We had beautiful cat sculptures in our garden, but had to hide them in the garage with their faces facing the wall. He hissed at them and smacked them in the face. He did it to one that my son had in his screened in porch. That's gone now, too. He's a real alpha male and has chased deer and turkeys off our property. Better to keep sweet Dude safe.
