A satellite TV dish in Egypt

Egyptian Satellite TV Antenna

We had lots of great and varied experiences in Egypt: cruising the Nile, visiting the Valley of the Kings and the Great Pyramids of Giza, viewing King Tutt's treasures, and other sights. The photo here is of a countryside scene. The small house plastered with mud is very modest, and no doubt lived in by people with little money. However, an important feature of the photo to me is the satellite TV dish antenna above the roof. No matter if they have little money, the people living here care enough about their world and their place in it to have communication from outside their neighborhood culture available to them, an admirable trait to me.

When I first saw the photo I didn't notice the dish antenna.
