Snow and Shopping

I saw the weather forecast this morning and it showed the snowfall totals for this year. We've gotten 52 inches of snow this year so far, and winter isn't over, and we're getting more today, though not an inch, about half. We had six inches of snow on Sunday, so they plowed on Monday. We got 8.8 inches on Tuesday, so they plowed yesterday. For the next seven days, the weather looks calm and peaceful. There are a couple days with a single snowflake on the chart, so nothing in the way of accumulation. I love winter and snow, but I'm ready for this break. I need to get back to the pool. Yesterday they plowed between 3 and 5 because there was a snow emergency until 3 and we couldn't park on the streets before then. My friend came by to find out if I wanted to tag along with her while she did some shopping. She also treated me to lunch. Because I went with her in her car, we needed to return to the apartments so I could get my car. We did that before we went to lunch. She stopped to get gas and went to the bank before we returned home. It was a good thing we did because it was going on 2:30 and we were still eating when we needed to have the cars off the lot. I parked my car at the library, intending we would come back and hang out after Good Will and Hobby Lobby. That didn't happen. It was a good day, but all the walking, something I can't do with my knees in the condition they're in, were a mess of pain by the time we left. We left Hobby Lobby where we spent at least two hours looking at everything and deciding what she wanted. She was looking for something in particular and had a hard time finding it. I didn't mind. I enjoy the store. However, my knees didn't appreciate all the walking and standing. Neither did my back as I realized when I got home and sat in the recliner with the massage pad on for the rest of the evening. I did find a couple of things I wanted at Good Will, and because I treated her on Monday, she bought the two movies I picked out. I bought the oil lamp that said it was mine. I collect oil lamps and this one is lovely as you can see in the picture. I'm also doing laundry this morning before it starts snowing again, so I'll be leaving in an hour to get that done. Tomorrow I'll go to the pool again. My knees should be back to normal by then. I watched a movie and a half before going to bed. I was so tired, my eyes were tearing. I got almost 8 hours of sleep. I thought about going to the pool this morning, but considering my knees are still bad and the laundry I'll be doing soon, I wasn't going to punish them any more than they already were. How was your day yesterday? Did you do anything exciting or out of the ordinary? Thanks for reading.

Ahhha, so even you get tired of all that cold icy snow .... I'm just glad we didn't get any this year and hopefully we won't next year either ......... I wouldn't mind a little rain though, it's pretty dry in these here parts.

@rebelann That's okay. I will never tire of snow. Did I tell you the banks at the pool were over my head? They must be six-foot snow banks minimum. We are getting snow tomorrow night, late, but it won't be an inch. The single snowflake for Wednesday now covers the day with multiple flakes and the weatherman is talking accumulation. Looks like I'll miss the pool on Thursday and need to find something to do again while they plow the parking lot. The city is running out of places to store the snow. Until I heard that, I didn't know they stored snow. I know they get rid of it on downtown streets but never thought about what they did with it.

I didn't say I was tired of it. Just ready for a break so I could get to the pool. I missed a lot of pool this month, which I learned this morning we broke the record for the snowiest February on record. No surprise there. And the month is only half over. We got a dusting last night and there is more on the way for Sunday. The single snowflake on the chart has changed to multiple snowflakes, but I couldn't determine if we're going to see any or if it's staying to the south of us this time. I hope you get your needed rain.

If I could get my knee replacement today, I would. However, I know I'm not down to where I need to be yet, weight wise for them to do the operation. Yes, I'm still doing the Whole30 food program. Right now I'm on the plateau going up and down a few pounds. I'll be glad when I get moving down from the plateau.

Yes, it was nice of her. I treated on Monday for the storm and she returned the favor. They're doing better today but still sore.

@Courtlynn This morning they're good. However, I do see another snow day in the forecast so I know the aches and pains will return. At least I'll have a couple days without them. It is good when people return favors, but I don't worry about it. I like treating. There's one person who won't let me return the favor and treat her. So, okay. I make her happy and let her treat.

52 inches, that is a lot! The mountains here have got over 100....but down in the valley probably not more than 20 total....the next week could bring more though. Sounds like a good day out though, sorry to hear about the pain after all the walking. Hope you will feel better when it is pool time.

I love oil lamps. What I should do is get oil for them just in case I need to use them or want to use them. Some of them have lamp oil in them.

I love Hobby Lobby I always end up finding too many things to buy. And as for thrift shops I would spend every day looking at things in one. There are so many things in there that are fascinating. It doe4s sound like you nee4d a rest. Do you think a swim would help with your pain?

@just4him Not much fun having to move your car and then find a place to park it till can get back to your spot again. I understand how hard it is to stand for a long period of time and your back hurting. Glad you got to hang out with your friend.

Thank you. We don't have 52 on the ground, but it is over a foot. That total is from the beginning of the season until now. We had quite a bit of melting in December and January was light on snow. February is making up for it.
