If It Seems To Good To Be True...................

My daughter has a friend that was in need of money working from home so she signed up with a company online to put items together for them. They told her she would make $597 a week if she completed all projects sent to her. Checks would come once a month and be deposited into her bank acct.
She worked very hard with everything that was shipped to her in the mail, putting it together and shipping the completed project back. It all seemed so legit so she continued.
When it came time for a paycheck, there was nothing!! No money, no nothing.
Scam. I believe it was a company called Express Cart or something like that so be wary of not participating in these scams.
Have you ever been duped by someone online promising a paycheck.

Oh no. That's so sad. I hope she can turn them in to … someone. That should be illegal

@FayeHazel Right, she spent a month assembling those things and sending them back.
I understand that, how is your mom, is she handling him pretty well?

@cintol So true - they shouldn't be allowed to get by with it. - Then selling those products that were assembled for free. Uncool.
Even keel here, thanks for asking. He's been depressive lately but that's nothing new, either unfortunate. I just don't want him bringing my mom down too much

That is terrible but I am always suspicious of these types of offers. She needs to report them.

Unfortunately, I heard about this scam more than 10 years ago,yes it's true.
My friend believed in that story. She was supposed to make some little dolls, not easy at all, because there are plenty of tiny pieces. She has never been paid.
Is not it suspicious to you a sum of $597 a week? Not because of the amount of money but because is not 'rounded' for instance $500 or $600??

Yes, they have been out there for a long time and its hard to figure out which are good and bad. I am sorry for your friends loss of funds and time as well. My daughters friend was putting together different things like toasters and such.
Its hard to gauge by the amt of pay, one never knows if they are paying a certain amt for each item made or how that works out. Maybe they thought it would look more realistic if it were an odd amt.

Yes, many years ago, before the internet. There were home working companies like that but they always said you did something wrong or did not meet their standards.

I remember those scams from years ago - I remember sending a buck or two for some more information but I never actually went forth with any of them. A friend once boasted how he would assemble puppets and make money doing it (he was going to make things faster with his friend), but he never did admit that he fell into this scam.

I think there might be more that try and don't admit to the scams then those that do. I feel sorry for them when they do fall into them, now days its really hard to tell the good from the bad.
