We all eat chocolate but does everyone know where it came from? Cacao tree also known as the "Food of God" personally living in a tropical country i feel lucky and bless to be able to grow this precious tree. I got 10 trees and thinking of adding some more.
Good characteristics of cacao tree, after planting you can expect a harvest in two year time which is good cause some fruit bearing trees you need to wait for atleast 5 years and more. Cacao will never stop flowering all year round i can see it bears flower and bees love them so much thats why you can also expect a high yield. If you had a cacao tree you can be sure that your growing your food organically, no synthetic fertilizer and spray.
As the start of 2019 i gathered around 50 pods in 5 trees and get atleast 3 kilos of seeds, i dry it under the sun for seven days and now is ready to be roast and peel but in my personal opinion i like to ferment my beans for seven more days before i turn it into nibs. In roasting the cacao beans you can smell an aroma that is better than coffee beans, it is sweet yet no words can describe how the cacao beans aroma is. Peeling them was easy too and it is also fun to do with your kids and loveone.

I really love chocolate, you are lucky to have cacao trees. 100g dark chocolate have from 6 mg to 8 mg iron.

I like making dark chocolate I actually make a 75-25 ratio of dark chocolate but if i want to make it into hot cocoa i add a little bit of sugar cause cacao had a bittersweet taste.

As the cacao age the fruit become smaller and smaller and the tendency of bearing fruits was lower. Yes they smell so good in my opinion it is better than the aroma of roasted coffee.

I think it is a very useful information and needed to be share. I dont know if your country was cold or the weather there is not suitable for the tree to grow. Climate is one of the factor needed to consider in planting trees, veggies and other type of plant.
