*Administrative Warning* Re: Advertising

This has always been one of our more cardinal rules, and I can't believe I find myself in the position of having to "remind" everyone about this. Especially some of our more veteran members. I am simply going to quote the guidelines:
Advertising of any sort - This includes posting affiliate/referral links, directing people to your profile or web page or encouraging people to message you for information.
*Edit: After re-reading my post, I realized it possibly came across as a bit more stern than I intended.

Is it okay to talk about our work, for instance :" New scent ! I just added honey almond to Sunshine`s homestead creations, it smells like heaven." Is this allowed?

maybe if we all suggest it to our followers, then maybe more members would see this admin warning and be reminded of it.

@owlwings i've seen newbies saying "yes, i've read it," then a few days later, post a discussion that gets deleted, then follows that up with a "my post is missing" post.
when people respond with 'admin probably deleted it, check the guidelines, ' they answer 'i don't think it's against the rules.'

If requested by private messages. I guess the guidelines are a bit unclear on that.

if you never asked for it and you're surprised that people here are bombarding you with their referral links via private message without your consent, then that would be considered spamming.

@hereandthere Yes. This is the reason why I was asking. Some people sent me referral links without asking. But this happened a long time ago, not recently.

It's a shame you have to remind us of guidelines, I learned my lesson very early on ..... in my case I didn't feel the need to watch the whole video before posting it in a discussion, really dumb of me as it was a ploy to ask for donations.

@hereandthere Yes, personal blogs where the users sell their products. I know that it's against the guidelines. I did not report, but I think someone informed Alex.

If that is my posting my movie URLs I would like to know directly--if not I will think it is all right. I just have a hard time getting the URL to post correctly within my post. They do not take away from myLot so maybe I am taking your 'reminder' wrong. It is not a money making thing because that is no longer the case on youtube.
It is like in school when a teacher says the kids are doing something wrong and everyone always thinks it is them--wouldn't it be better to send a message to someone who is doing it?

Can you please just let me know if I have broken a rule? I can't remember doing so, but if I have, I would just appreciate a direct message saying so.

What do you mean, messaging me for information. Are you referring to a recipe or garden tips?

I guess that some people compare this site with Facebook, where you can do that there. Thanks for the reminder here again.

I think selling must only be on FB Page. Facebook is just lax on tolerating people do the selling on their personal accounts.

I think I've seen some of those these past days. Probably they forgot the rules and it's good you're there with your eagle eyes to remind people about the rules.
