Okay, this is totally new to me, but my mom is going to try this recipe for dinner tonight. She never did, but as she and my father like onion (it's not my favorite food in the world, but I can deal with it, haha!)... She is going to try it (with some toasts).
The expected result is something like this photo that I have uploaded (which for me, it looks pretty good ). It would be perfect for this cold day.
What do you think about this kind of soup?

@WiseGhots That's too bad. Maybe you have to acquire a taste for it.

This is my husband's favorite soup. Although I love onions and soup - it's not my favorite. He likes them from restaurants, but I have not found a suitable heat-up one from the store. I even tried making it from scratch once - but honestly it wasn't good. I need to find that perfect recipe!

@WiseGhots Then it's easy to make a not-so-good soup . Honestly I think I need to find a better beef stock.

It's quite easy to do, but not so good (in my opinion).

@WiseGhots We all have our own preferences. I reckon that's why potlucks work.

@WiseGhots If it is cooked right, with the layer of cheese on the top, it is a favorite.

french onion soup is DELICIOUS, especially in a bread bowl. it's one of my favorites for sure, and great for cold weather like you mentioned.

I really like it... just not the bread floating on top... replace it with cheese and tons of it and I'm happy!!!

Oh yes, I do know it and I like it. Nothing I would cook myself, but I would order it in a restaurant as starters. Did you enjoy it?
