It is with great regret that I, Ms Horse, inform the MyLot community that The Horse was killed today by a texting driver.
As he lay there on the pavement, slipping away, he asked me to inform his beloved MyLot friends about what had happened. Blood dripped from his mouth as he spoke, and he clutched at his spilling entrails with his bare hands. These were his words:
"I thought I had a good diver ahead of me and to the right. He had his left blinker on, and I had my right blinker on. So we would 'trade lanes' as drivers do all the time.
"But to my shock, when I pulled in behind him, he did not go left. He stayed in the same lane, causing me to slam my brakes on.
"I caught a glimpse of him before the semi- rear-ended me. He was texting away, not even pausing to look up at the road. He had no idea that his left blinker on. He had no idea what was happening around him."
At this point, The Horse's trembling hands could no longer control his spilling entrails. They fell to the pavement with a "splat" and mingled with my tears.
Then he gave me the keys to his crumpled Nissan Xterra and died.
I post this song in The Horse's memory. It was one of our favorites, and we used to snuggle on the couch and liste...I can write no more.

I've been watching too many criminal investigation shows and I suspect you are not telling the truth. Just sayin'

@SophiaMorros I've been reading some Sherlock Holmes stories and working on my ability to (partially) fabricate a story. The "spilling entrails" part was stolen from a Conan the Barbarian book my friend had in high school.

It was bound to happen. I actually slapped a car one time at stop light as crossing because they were texting. Some dude yelled, dude, that guy almost ran you over. Really, you think. I was so pissed. I do not even have enough humor to do LMAO emoji on this one as it brings my PTSD back.

@TheHorse I do, that is actually pretty famous is it not? This was not that though. I see that all the time in this crazy state. This guy was flying rather fast and if was walking like I can would have been splattered.

@crossbones27 Yeah, I've experienced that too, both on foot and in my car.

I didn't even know there was a Ms Horse...Nobody ever tells me anything!
One thing I can tell you, this would never have happened when Joe Friday was still on the job. He would have locked that driver up before he could kill!

If the Horse had survived, I'd tell him how strange it is that a young man who was most likely texting, ran off the road and through our front yard this morning. Our garage escaped the crash this time and no one got hurt. Mine's a true story.

@TheHorse Yeah, he came to our door to tell us what happened. He stopped just inches from a big tree at the edge of the woods. My husband pulled his car out with a tractor. The boy never said sorry for tearing up our lawn or thanks for saving him a tow truck charge and not filing a claim with his insurance company. No manners.

How very interesting you are posting this from beyond the grave! Do you use a ouija board to help?

I finally got out of the bathroom. Thanks for the scare. I'm going to go sing now. (It's how I deescalate.)

@janethwayne On California freeways, there is no justice. The Horse lived a good life.

@TheHorse I think you have to complain so it can be given justice.

This is when I wish I could be a cop and give the driver a ticket. They are as dangerous as drunkards.

My thoughts exactly! I drive an SUV. I see Highway Patrol persons in SUVs. From behind, all one sees is a person looking down when they're texting at a stoplight. But if you pull up along side of them, in an SUV, you can clearly see the cell phone in their lap and their naughty fingers at work. I suppose Highway Patrol persons have more important things to attend to, but if fines were increased, and they enforced the law, it would make driving safer AND it would lead to substantial revenues for the County/State...whatever.
