Payless Shoes Closing

Read an article about the store Payless Shoe Source is closing all of its stores, even online. All stores in the US and Puerto Rico will be closing by the end of March. They were in business for 62 years.
I shopped at the store every now and then years ago and always found what I needed. Too bad they are going out of business. Too much competition I suppose.
I did read that this process does not affect the company’s franchise operations or its Latin American stores, which remain open for business as usual.
Have you shopped at Payless? I have bought shoes online, have you?

Seems like China made shoes are killing a lot of businesses just like what happened to our quality shoes industry btw, we do not have Payless shoe stores here, seriously when you mention Payless in our country people would think you are talking about a very popular brand of instant noodles

@CarolDM it's not a very good sign, Your country needs to be more competitive while maintaining U.S. brand quality, how to pull it off from Asian competition is another thing. Just for the record I think it was Trump who started the trade war.

I've bought shoes online, just not from Payless.
Payless was a store we frequented a lot when I was a little girl. I think the majority of my shoes came from that store. It's sad to see it go, but I guess they've had a good run. They are still keeping the Latin American stores open?

@CarolDM That's odd, but perhaps they are profitable in the Latin countries.

I bought some pairs of shoes there while I traveled int he United States. They had inexpensive shoes, if I forgot to bring shoes with me I bought. I buy shoes online time by time. It's hard for me to find my small size here in Switzerland.

I will have to check ours out when I go to town again. I always went when they had the BOGO too.

@CarolDM we buy shoes regularly. The kids grow like weeds or wear them down.
Picked up 3 pairs today for $60. I told the kids we will go back again soon and pick up 3 more one for each of them. Like nice shoes or summer shoes. We got play shoes today

@CarolDM oh no that makes me so sad. That's the only place I buy shoes. I guess I should stock up on the deals before they close.

@Happy2BeMe I know, it is sad when stores that have been around for so long are closing. They are having huge markdowns.

I liked them, mom thought they were too cheap. In more recent times, though, my loyalty had switched to Famous Footwear.

I will have to see if they have going out of business sales. I hadn't heard about this yet but I don't read the paper much.

I have bought shoes there and was quite satisfied @CarolDM . The problem with a lot of stores closing of all kinds is the damn internet. Gee; who wants to get in their car when everything can be delivered to their stinking door. Groceries, clothes, appliances, vehicles, housewares.....society has become nothing but a bunch of lazy bas*ards. Not to mention all the people out of work because of it....but then again, sooner or later everything will be able to be done from home won't it!!!!! Humanity has become nothing but a bunch of robots.

That means their store in India will also shut down ? Personally I don't like the quality of material they used in the male footwear. No iam not their customer.
