Although we have been through very difficult times, I do get along with my parents. You get to a point in life or something happens where you loose a special person and you realise that they will not be around forever and sometimes you have to put your pride in your pocket and try to fix whatever problems there might be. One day you wake up and they are gone, and them you cant tell them how you feel.I am very close to my family although my mom and dad are divorced.

I'm sorry to hear that. I guess it's hard to be like that. I'm just glad me and my parents are getting along well with each other. We may have experienced conflicts or mis-understandings sometimes but sooner we get to settle issues that caused our conflicts. I just do hope you can find it in your heart to forgive and forget soon though i know it's real hard for you. After all, she's still your mom. Godbless friend! ;)

Is it not funny that we often do not get along with the parent we have more similarities with? Try to observe why you don't like your mom is it because she is always nagging? try then to observe yourself and you'll find out that you are also a nagger. Maybe that is also why you get along with your father. It might be because what attracted your mother to your father might be the same attitude you and your mother have in common.

yes most of the time...but it was definitely better when i lived away from them. it feels like they are interfering in my life sometimes which is frustrating.

I get along well with both my parents - I admire them both greatly :) Of course when I was a teenager I didn't feek that way! I think we grow closer to them as we grow older.
But a good relationship with your parents is one of the special things you can have. I say forgive and forget and experience the love of your parents now while you still can :)
Whatever they may or may not have done - they made you and that in itself is a pretty special bond you share :)

its not that easy as forgive and forget. it is hard at times. sometimes its ok to love that person, but you don't have to be next to them if they drain your energy and make you unhappy

I get along great with my dad, however, my mom is a different story just like you. I try real hard.

I get a long well with my parents. My mother and I are like sisters. My dad- sometimes we get into arguments but that's typical, plus he and I are much alike.
You, I don't expect you to forget but I hope you will someday be able to forgive your mom. Parents are not perfect people. I am sure that there are parents who have made wrong decisions - not deliberately- but because they didn't know better.

It is hard sometimes to forgive and forget, I agree, but I also think it gets easier to do so as we get a little older, at least for me. I'm not really on speaking terms with my father, and haven't been since 15, but that's more his choice than my own, and I'm fine with that. My mother and I had a few rocky years, but we got past that and get along great.

nope i dont get along well with my parents! the very hardest truth about my life. well, its because my mother whenever she thinks of what my father has done to her, she always makes me as the center of her headache. sometimes when i make mistakes, my mother always tells me that i am as crazy as my father. and whats so funny also is that my father sometimes do the same thing in judging me too.. hahaha.
