A sure-fire insect repellent

While we were in a roadside store in the south-west of Western Australia, we were waiting for our lunch to be prepared. The shop stocked a number of grocery items as well as home-made jams, marmalades and chutneys. It also sold a limited range of camping gear including insect repellent. The one we thought most likely to work was called ‘Koala Fart’. I wouldn’t mind betting that they sell much of it on the name alone. Would you buy something that smelt like a koala fart?

. I have no idea what a koala fart smells like, but I'd buy it as a gag gift, pun intended.

I am not sure that I would like to smell this "natural repellent", may be it's better than being bitten by insects.

@JudyEv I am sure that they count on the name to sell the product.

I'm sure it would have an 'ordinary' sort of smell. The manufacturers would be hoping the name would sell some of the product.

This makes me think of the diaper rash cream that is something like "Butt Paste" I've seen a lot of etsy sellers that give their items creative names. I've been known to buy a thing or two based on the name along. I am glad that as of yet, I have not been disappointed.

Frankly, this name sounds so strange. I wonder whether a product can be sold well here if it is named like that. But if it can work well, I will buy it Do you know whether this works well?

@JudyEv Sometimes when my friend came back from Australia, they will buy some little gifts which are unique in Australia to me. Such as the sheep oil facial cream?

@JudyEv Since mosquitoes are attracted by scents then maybe it is formulated in a way that it is not appealing to them. Did you buy one to try it out?

@JudyEv It's a marketing strategy as well and since Koala is associated with Australia it would be a fun name to attract customers.

I might not like the smell but as long as it keeps the bugs away I would try it. But you know what I didn't think about and discovered online the active ingredient in this is eucalyptus and that is what really repels the bugs and since koalas eat a lot of the stuff then their farts have to smell of eucalyptus
