Added Azaleas to My Front Yard

To the right of my front door I have quite a few light pink azaleas and we also have some rather large ones in the back of our house near the screen porch. But in the direct front off our little front porch where I put the new ornaments, we only have one which is a rather dark pink. Last week I bought three new ones at Truevalue Hardware store. They were $3.49 each. We left the next day for my brother's so I never got a chance to plant them. Yesterday I finally got a shovel from the garage, dug three holes planted and water my new plants. They had some buds on them already and I am hoping that they will have taken root and be thriving by the time we leave to head north. I hope so but even if they don't it wasn't a lot of money to spend.

@BelleStarr I know them just by colours. Interesting name and to think you brought it back to life. Only Jesus did that I lost many of my periwinkles. What you see in the image I had them and others too I just bought seeds and the plants are coming up

I have an azalea here in a pot that's quite similar to that picture only a bit darker. We don't have the right sort of soil for them to thrive on the garden - glad that you do!

I think from my experience they thrive just about anywhere. I have them in my rocky New England soil and my sandy Florida soil.

Pretty! I find how well a plant does is inversely related to how much I paid for it.

lol You may be right about that, it is sort of like buying a purebred dog, mutts are usually cheaper and healthier.

lol It was a warm winter all the way here but it is more the sandy soil and the lack of water that worries me.

That was a steal for those pretty azaleas! I hope they grow and bloom for you. We have over 15 in pink growing at our vacation house. I will miss the blooming, but at least our neighbors will have some delight. lol

O boy . . . If I plant those beautiful flowers in our front yard today, they would surely shrink to the ground . . . .It is -31 degrees centigrade in Calgary right now!
