Could you make a success of living alone?

Let's say that circumstance arose so that you had to live alone, all by yourself, could you succeed? Would you be lonely? Would you be able to eventually enjoy it?
If you are living by yourself, alone, what has helped you to overcome loneliness?

*** When I found myself alone some 19 years ago, I made myself a cassette with different songs to lift my moods and this song by Abba was one of the songs that was on that cassette.
Agnetha & Frida really grab your attention here !! There may be other people in this video but I cant say Ive noticed ! - I got appointments, work I have to ...

Honestly, I am a loner. I have fun here, but perhaps I like it that way because I can come here when I wish, and go when I wish. Because of that control, myLot is right way to socialize for me. In real life, most of the time, I feel I am acting and I don't like that.

It depends on what you consider as a success or loneliness.

What loneliness? I live alone even though my friends live below me. I spend my days making a passive income online, do my writing and blogging, fix up my apartment, and do some reading. In the evenings I watch stuff on the Internet and I am hoping to soon get to work on some art projects. To help things along I listen to my favorite music.

@KlyliePot I agree! Music helps a lot. What song would you put on the playlist to cheer you up?

@RasmaSandra Losing a cherished marriage mate can be devastating. Good that you have friends close by and you are busy and have a pet. All good things to help cope living alone.

Success has nothing to do with loneliness...in my perspective... Being lonely brings you mental pressure but at the same time it gives you more freedom...

I may not have explained it properly. One of the drawbacks of living alone can be loneliness. How would you deal with that?

I'm living alone. Lost my Mother in 2017, so now I live alone. I'm an only child, so being alone doesn't bother me at all. I don't get lonely, but miss my Mother. I write in a journal about my feelings and it helps me cope. We can't have pets where I live, but it's a safe place with descent neighbors who are kind to me. There's mylotting that helps a lot too. Mother's Day is a very saddest day to live through now, and my Mother's birthday too is another sad day. But mylotting makes things a lot brighter to live alone with. Got tv and State events to go to, keep myself busy and not become idle and contemplative so I enjoy life to the best I can though I miss my Mother terribly.

Yes, so it's so good that I go to the library. I get my monthly bus pass so it's good to use it all up by the end of the month too. I thought to get a tablet, but then I got to get internet coverage at home, so going to the library is a win win situation. Just got to be careful answering the door, I got windows by my front door so I never open the door, just look out the window to talk to people at the front door.

When I first went out on my own I had a room mate but that didn't last as we fought too much so after that I decided it would be best to be alone @1hopefulman I got a cat in 1974 then I added dogs in 1980.

Of course that would be awful! I have two daughters in their forties, so children grow up, get married and no longer live with their parents. Sometime they even move far away from their parents. I was also a victim of adultery which ended my marriage.
I have learned to cope and actually at this time I'm quite happy living alone. This post was sparked by a friend that is having a hard time not having a mate anymore. I was interested to see what others do to cope.

@1hopefulman Tough for both of you I guess. I am just dreading the day the boys move out or go away to another place.. I try to keep myself busy to ensure that I am prepared for all those things that ios bound to happen as kids grow up.
I agree we will all learn to cope, some really well and some not so well.

Isn't that a great song? 42 years alone, that is amazing. So, she was never able to find another amazing man?
My marriage ended 19 years ago and at the beginning I cried rivers. I dated a few but was never able to find someone I could love and so overcame that challenge and now I am happy being alone and I actually see many benefits. This is how life went and life keeps going and so must we.

@DianneN Life is tricky and sometimes it gives us some bad situations. However we a positive attitude we can overcome many things.
Thi is an article I wrote and it is still on the internet. Notice the date. (Note: I earn nothing from this article)
Has your heart been broken by someone that you loved? If it has, then you know the excruciating pain it can cause. But a broken heart can be mended. Following is what helped me and hopefully it will also help you!

You are dealing with loneliness of heart. I had that too but realized that I had to overcome it or it would have made me sick. I even wrote an article about how to mend a broken heart. (Note: I earn nothing from this article)

I've talked to people in a busy hectic life and they say they long to be alone. I suppose as long as we have some outlets where we can talk to someone and then of course there is work, hobbies and study that sometimes demand it. With 19 years under your belt I bet you could be helpful to those struggling with being alone.

I could easily live alone. There would be such a silence in the air. And no, I promise you I would not get lonely. Sometimes my family goes to Florida and leaves me here to take care of the house for a couple weeks, and every single time, it feels like quiet, peaceful HEAVEN.

Yeah, I probably could. I mean obviously not now because I have kids. And I love them haha!
But if I didn't have my kids or anything I could because I'm pretty misanthropic.
... And if I WAS to live alone I'd have to make sure there was animals to accompany me and good tunes. :)

@1hopefulman well maybe misanthropic in a more "lighter" way of saying it hahaha.
I don't know man, the way things are going in the world people are harder to be around. Sometimes I see them as demonic. If that makes sense
But yes, it is good to be positive!
I know there's still good in the world, just don't see it enough I guess.
