Do you have a go-to food when you're hungry but aren't sure what you want to eat?

When I was a teenager, my go-to food would have been what they called a "Big Mac Special." Big Mac, Coke, and fries. Life was simple and good. Over the past 15 years, my evening go-to food has been Tom Kha Gai (Thai chicken soup and rice). Delicious and filling without being too filling. Recently, my mid-day go-to food has become the Subway sandwich. I usually go for ham and cheese, with ALL of the vegetables available. It's filling, but most of the fill is just carbs and vegetables. I eat enough protein-rich foods anyway. Do you have a go-to when you're not craving anything in particular?

OMG! That sub looks good, remove the onions and ham, and its perfect! Since I am diabetic I would only have one if I was going to do a hard days work, to burn the carbs. so not to jack my BS. Soup, when I am hungry and I have no time. I need food now, I have not ate today and its noon. Gimme a bite!

No problem! I'll take the ham and onions out of that part. You OK with my "extra peppers"?

@andriaperry I love peppers. I'm trying to decide whether to get Mexican for lunch. It has been awhile.

I used to have a LOT of go-to foods before this effing salt restriction. Greasy burgers, French fries, potato chips...seems all of this garbage caught up to me. Dammit! There used to be a sandwich I loved and I cannot recall the name of it. But it was basically bologna, pickles, onions, cheese, mayonnaise...MAN it was GOOD! I can't eat these anymore.

In my house, the fridge is in command. I make food from scratch and it depends on what I have around.

What I have around is a factor here too. Speaking of which, I have lox, a friend baked some bread, and I have cream cheese. Breakfast, here I come!

Sounds good to me. Do you make your own spaghetti sauce?

@TheHorse Yes, I do the spaghetti sauce, but for my husband and one of my sons, because I am a vegetarian, I take mine with butter and cheese or tomato sauce (only tomato) and cheese.

Mine is noodles! I don't really eat fast food, although I will occasionally have a Subway or I, even more rarely, will pop out for noodles rather than cooking them myself.

@TheHorse Sometimes, I'll have them on their own. I might mix some chicken or vegetables with them. But other times I like them just plain or with only some spice/seasoning.

That looks delicious. I do not have a go to food and that is hurting me this morning as I am trying to wait for hubby before having a major breakfast, but I am hungry now.

Not really because it changes as to what my tastes are at the time. I suppose mine would be cereal or peanut butter. Last night..I had soup. I wanted something more than a snack.

Either a double stack at Wendy's or A Jersey Mike Ham and Provolone Sub with mayo, lettuce and onion, love those things.

I have two foods that I must have if the carving strikes depending on my mood and the day. One is a cold Italian sub and the other pizza.

Pickle rice. Though I have stopped eating it. I don't like Pizza, and all the foods you all have. Sorry to say that. Only ice creams (Indian) and sponge cake without any icing. Rest bye bye. LOL

I love Wendy's chili and I always buy extra and freeze it. Comes in handy when I'm looking for something. Defrosts quickly in the microwave and then just beat and eat. That Subway sandwich certainly looks good!

Usually, if I don't know what I want, I start looking at recipes or if I'm out driving running errands, I'll think about different foods I like at different places.

Chocolate. No, not really. Probably bread and Vegemite - a brown yeast spread only liked by Aussies it seems.
