Oh, what a fabulous day we had yesterday! Hubs and I took off for Miami Beach yesterday afternoon to celebrate the extra hour of evening sunlight.
We stopped in Bal Harbor for some high end shopping for our two daughters-in-law. They each deserve the adorable handbags we chose. As an added surprise we bought matching wallets and Louis Vuitton cologne and had them hidden in each handbag. The store will ship them today for us.
When we arrived in Miami, we took a walk on the beach and then in a park, stopped for ice cream, visited hotels I used to stay in with my parents and brothers when we vacationed in Miami, and the hotels my husband and I stayed in on vacations over the years. We had cocktails at one, revisited the Versace Mansion where Gianni was murdered, and to top it all off, ran in to friends from up north who are wintering in Miami! They invited us to join them for dinner. What a surprise and such a good time was had by all!
After dinner we watched the sunset and then reminisced and had some belly laughs and giggles on our 50 minute drive home. It was a wonderful day to be together with hubs.
I’m really a Connecticut girl in a Florida world and love our life!

You daughters-in-law are lucky that you are their in-law. I like chasing the sunset.

@jobelbojel Thanks so much! I'm going to let my husband sleep for a little bit more. He's exhausted from our day in Miami .

We were shocked and giddy at running into each other of all places. Just proves it's a small world.
Both daughters-in-law deserve a treat and much more. They are so sweet, personable, intelligent, and loving. We are so blessed to have them in our lives and as our sons' wives.

@just4him Thank you. They are the best!!!
He's waiting until the doctors think he can safely fly home in a med-evac jet. He still has a blood clot on his heart which of course could cause another stroke. Once home, he will need to stabilize again for 2 months before heart surgery. That's all I know as of now. Thanks for asking, Val.

@nela13 The LV's leather gains a dark luster and can't get wet in the rain or it will get spotted. I have several patent leather bags that are great, too, from LV. Chanel bags last forever, They are made of the softest lamb leather and are my favorite. I have been collecting bags since I was 29 years old. I have had stages of Prada, Gucci, Edith Leiber, MCM, Dior, Versace, and others. I gave many away to my daughters-in-law and friends. And each and everyone has a hilarious story on how I wound up getting them.
Our older son's mother-in-law is much worse than I am, btw.

I love Miami and don't know why we don't go there more often since it's only about an hour away.
The girls should really love the bags, especially with the goodies inside. I have more than enough and have only been buying limited edition LV bags or Chanel, my all time favorite in everything. Thanks for saying that!

It sounds great to me. It really is a small world isn't it? I used to go to Fla. every winter for a few days, but haven't been for about 10 or 15 years. Maybe this winter I will go back. I love St. Augustine.

@DianneN It really is..When I was in DC, I saw people from my high school, which was quite a distance from there, and our French teacher in HS told us, when he was in Rome..at the Colisseum or somewhere he saw one of the kids from our school!!

That's a much more fun day than staying in because of a snowstorm.

We are only about 50 minutes away and really should visit more often. I don't know why we don't.
The girls deserve so much more than those gifts, but I know they will love them. I had to control myself and not buy any for me. lol
The frozen north is right! So glad we are here. It's been beautiful in paradise!!!!

I love Miami Beach, and used to spend a lot of time there, basking on the warm sands of South Beach, enjoying the night life in Coconut Grove, and catching some Heat basketball games at the arena. Bayside was always nice too when they had concerts scheduled. Miami is a fun city.

@DianneN There are a lot of new trendy areas of Miami that have sprung up since the days I used to hang out there. I probably don't even know where all the best spots are anymore. I know there are some pretty cool art districts that are there now that weren't there when I lived in south Florida.

@moffittjc Things definitely have changed, but not too drastically. If you want to know the real trendy places, just ask my nephew. He's in Miami all the time and even goes to the crazy Ultra concerts or whatever they're called.

Maybe you can answer a question that has puzzled me for years.
Do high-end handbags have some sort of Tardis capability. That's the only justification I can see for charging so much money for them. Otherwise they're just receptacles for stuff!!

It is good when couples share common interests not having to 'convince' each other before venturing on activities.
That was a wonderful day that created memories that will last a life time.

It's no NYC, but it does have many of the same stores I love. It's such a pleasure to hop in the car and take off whenever we want to without worrying about coats, boots, gloves, etc.... The weather is sunny and beautiful almost every single day.
