A New Challenge, Teaching Tagalog

My Jetlag is gone and I am preparing for the new challenge to come this week. I will be teaching Tagalog language to a German. I have to do it in German to Tagalog language. Usually, Tagalog is taught with an English language to let the "student" understand the lesson but I suppose, the German is comfortable that I will teach him in his mother language. So you see, I am back again with my German lifestyle but this time, with a change. I will no longer work as a massage therapist because my hands are stiff, tingling and sometimes painful. It's time for me to have another part time income. So what do you think? Do you want to learn a new language? The photo above was a part of my lesson plan.

I am so sorry you have hands problem. I am sure that the German student will appreciate if you translate into his mother language. I would like to learn German a bit better.

@thelme55 I understand German pretty well, but I do not speak it well. I never use German, we speak Italian here in the south of Switzerland.

Nice that would be good then becoming a personal language tutor there. I think that you will need to have some research on how you can teach them to speak Tagalog. I wonder why they became interested to learn our language.

Yes, It is nice to become a private tutor. It is fun. Of course I did a lot of research besides that, I was taught how to teach when I was in college ages ago @rsa101. Everyone has its own reason why they learn another language. My "student" wants to learn Tagalog because he wants to communicate with his biological ancestors in the Philippines.

I actually understood the first half of that and the last three. I don't know what dir and Ihnen are, or I'd probably understand all of it. I took German in high school and some of it stayed with me all these years.

I see @just4him. dir means you in that sentence "Wie geht es dir?, means How do you do or how are you? Ihnen is the formal use of you. If you are not close to that person or doesn't know him personally, a person in the office or so. Still, the meaning of the sentence is the same.

Learning is a continuous process to everyone and I believe it will not be difficult for you to teach that person because you had experienced already. It's just a matter of adjustment.

Well at least, being a tutor of Tagalog is something not so taxing with you. I guess, you got your hands stiff and tingling and painful , from massaging many people. I think you need to see your rheumatologist about it. I also think you lack B1 6 12.

That is good @simone10. We are always learning, aren't we? I had to take 2 years Spanish course when I was in college. It was compulsory at that time in the Philippines. I still remember some words and some sentences because Filipino language has a lot of Spanish words.
