In this you world you have to work in oder to survive and improve your living standard by either find a job and be employed or you can create your own own income opportunity and be your own boss by becoming a freelancer.
As for me Eric I prefer both employment and freelancing.Employment gives me a stable and secure source of income and freelancing gives me an additional source of income during my free time.
What about you do you prefer being employed or be a freelancer?

That's okay as long you have the happiness with both employment and freelancing.

I would say the same as you. I am employed in a full time job and I am a freelancer. If I were to choose a preference, I might say freelancing. I am employed because I don't earn enough from freelancing. Like you, being employed gives security and a regular income. The irony of that is that I don't have much time for freelance work yet I could, potentially, be earning a lot more from it if I did have the time.

@erictsuma I've been freelancing for years and have regular work. I'm in a bit of a catch-22 at the moment - can't afford to quit my regular job because I don't have enough freelance work but I can't take on much more freelance work because there isn't time around my regular job!
If I knew I had enough savings to live on for a few months, I'd take the chance of going completely freelance. It's the transition that worries me when I'd have no income.

I worked in regular job for 23 years. Thereafter, I have been freelancer for almost 12 years. Freelancing requires more self discipline. The last three and a half years, I have not been a freelancer also. That said, at first freelancing was fascinating because I couldn't believe it was possible to earn monies online and so went in competitive way. Then I realized I could pay for some of my expenses .. precisely insurances, and donations. I stuck to earning for those, and now I have stopped earning as freelancer also thanks to a legal case and other care giving obligations. But life without loans is great. To be fair, I still have small loan for car. But nothing that I cannot manage from my retirement income.

If you think that you can be happy with the options that you feel are comfortable and they give you the source of income that you can rely when you are in need then that is okay as they say life has no formular. Am happy for you.

@Shavkat you are very right my friend. The probability and possibility of making money in freelancing is very high and you can earn more than the 5to9 jobs.

@erictsuma I think about this often. Both appeal to me as I just want a job and some more money coming through. I would even do both if I could. Have a job but make some money on the side. So I am the same as you.
I do some things now to make money but I have ideas on making a little business but just need to sort a lot of things out before doing so.

They both have their good and bad points, but employment usually has more perks.

I have done both. When the kids were in college i worked for a business just to help them pay their fees. Now, old and no kids, I am an artist and I work at home and sell in a store in a tourist area so my art sells very well. I make more money now than I did with a pay check...

Both but as much as I wanted to work in a corporate world, I can’t, because of health issues. so I just work online to sustain my needs.
