April Fools Day - Don't Be Fooled

Today is the day you can expect fake news (okay there are every day) and pranks from friends.
I want to share some old pranks that have reached the target to "fool" people:
In 1976, the BBC announced that Jupiter and Pluto would be in a rare alignment at 9:47 am and that would diminish the earth’s gravity.
All those who would leap at that very moment, would have experienced a floating sensation. Hundreds of people called to say they felt it.
In 1965 always the BBC, announced the experimentation of a new technology called "Smell-o-vision" allowing the transmission of odors over the airwaves to all viewers.
You cannot imagine how many viewers called the BBC to report that the trial was successful.
In 2007, they repeated an online version of the hoax and it again worked.
In 1962, Swedish TV broadcast a 5-minute special to show people how to get color TV by placing a nylon stocking in front of the Black and White TV. Thousands of people tried it.
In 1998, Burger King published an ad in USA Today, to announce the new "Left-Handed Whopper" sandwich designed for the 32 million left-handed Americans.
The new whopper had the same ingredients as the original, but it had "all condiments rotated 180 degrees, to redistribute the weight so that the bulk of the condiments will balance to the left, reducing the amount of spilling out the right side of the burger."
YES, people believed also this one.
Have you a nice famous prank to share?

@LadyDuck yes pranks like the alignment of Jupiter and Pluto are hard to disbelieve.
So there are chances of being getting pranked especially by the news channel.

So, what does that say about people?
I'm still trying to find the button that doubles our earnings today. Have you spotted it?

My favourite has always been the video of Italians harvesting spaghetti from trees:

Those all sound like fun. There was another famous BBC one where they claimed to have found spaghetti growing on trees. Today the owner of the poetry site I'm a member of published an article inviting people to submit their poems, and they would be in line to receive $20,000. Dozens of people fell for it, but not me.

@jaboUK - I'm so glad you are part of a poetry site! Some of your poetry will live on in the future. It deserves to be read by future generations.

I've heard of some of these, and had to chuckle at the gullibility of some people. I don't know many pranks, but read that someone at Walmart put a snake in the lettuce section. Another one is to paint clear nail polish over a bar of soap. Dumb stupid pranks.

A Danish company delivers fast food to people's houses. One year they wrote that they had chosen to use horses instead of cars because this was cheaper and better for the environment.
One year new 20 kr bills had just been introduced in my country. There was a picture of two birds on the bills. In a newspaper they wrote that the bills were counterfeit if one of the birds was missing a leg. They asked people exchange the counterfeit bills in the bank. Lots of people waited in line at the bank. They all wanted to exchange their bills. But the bills where one of the birds was missing a leg weren't counterfeit. They were supposed to look that way
In 2008 there was a story saying that Denmark had sold Greenland to the US.

@LadyDuck There are many funny ones. Every year some people believe them, and that leads to some funny situations sometimes. I didn't have time to read the news yesterday, but they probably did one this year as well.

@simone10 Make an experiment, go somewhere where there are people and look at a point in the sky. It's better if you have a friend with you. Talk to your friend and say "can you see it? Look right here, there is a form hiding behind that cloud..." You will see how many will look up and some will start to say "you are right, i can see something".

@LadyDuck Yes, that one was my favorite also.
I had a good day at work today. It was very busy, the end of the month and the beginning of the month are busiest for the bank. But the time flies by so quickly and we are only expected to answer primary needs only, no advise offering or conversations regarding things that aren't on accounts. So quick and lots of calls.

Those were some pretty nice pranks. I don't have any that I can think of to share. I'm sure there's some really good ones out there. Hopefully, other myLotters will come through with some great ones in the comments.

@LadyDuck I remember reading about this before, either here on myLot or on Bubblews. It definitely seems like one of the better pranks I have seen!
