A series of packing...

I am in this packing mode and all last moment arrangements and shopping in last two weeks. It is a big job to plan for multiple travels in a month time. So my first packing was over last night. It was for my mother in law who left today early morning to airport. She has reached safely to her elder son. Her packing needed a lot to be done. Besides her clothes and needed stuff, I had to meticulously pack her medical stuff. So yesterday whole time I took the print outs of her recent reports and filed them in order. Typed and printed her medicine chart with times so that it helps other who take over. And also the new diet plan and chart was printed out and filled. Though her nurse help will be with her, I thought it will be helpful for others too who will be with her. This all took the whole day. And just now I finished packing for my husband. He is going for a day business trip to Hyderabad tomorrow early morning and will be back on Saturday evening. As soon as he comes back on Saturday, I should be ready with our packing to Phuket and I have planned to do it tomorrow. I have made a lists of things to pack so that I don't miss anything... Be it our swimming costume, sunglasses, caps, medicine.. I have a list ready. We will be back on Thursday 11th and the next morning my husband leaves for another business trip for 4 days. So before I leave for my vacation, I have to keep that suitcase ready. I am going to do it tomorrow only. Next is again my travel to native on 17 and I have to pack all traditional party dresses for all functions and wedding of my foster daughter. Our husband will join us directly on wedding night for sometimes. While I will be back to my native after wedding, husband will fly back to Bangalore and after two days he has to fly to US for two weeks. So I need to keep that suitcase ready for him before I leave for native. Though I will return to Bangalore on 2nd May, I will see my husband only on 11th of May. Phew!! Writing about the packing relay leaves me tired. So next few days I am just carrying on with packing. What is keeping you busy for coming days?

WOW! You certainly have oodles of packing to do! I only pack for myself with lists, of course. My husband does his own packing, with lists, too. I also put a list in my luggage to remind me what shoes go with what dress, what blouses goes with which pairs of pants, etc. I'm sure you will miss your husband a lot while you are parted.

My husband is very bad with missing things and organizing stuff in a suitcase. I do it mostly for him. Many a times he gets no energy to do that with a series of travel and sometimes with all the jet lag. I will miss him but in last 19 years of marriage, I have got used to it.

@arunima25 You are a good wife. My husband packs much more neatly and precisely than I do and often rearranges my packing for me. lol

@arunima25 I end up with lists all over the place. I keep adding to it. I found out I am best if I pack the last minute with my list or I keep adding to many things and my suitcase gets very heavy.

For us, the stay in Marriott is free as my husband has enough points collected. He travels a lot and his company always books that hotel for him. For flight tickets we spent 45 K on a to and fro flight for 4 people. The visa is on arrival and I can tell you only later how much will it come. My daughters are US citizens and they don't need a visa. Rest of the expenses can be told later and depends on how we spend and how much we cover. It might be another 40 K

@nela13 I can understand. But if they are well behaved, that itself is a big help.

It is the same with me. But when I am packing, my daughters help with other things around in the house. So that comes as a big help.

My husband is used to it. But soon he is planning to change his role to something that doesn't need so much travel. He is in process of transition. He has done it for long time. I love to travel and it never tires meEspecially this one is coming after a long break of an year. Generally I go for minimum of two vacations in a year.

Wow...my head is spinning. You seem to be a very systematic person. Good. I specially liked you spending time on your mother in law's health reports, diet plans etc. Rae to find folks like that these days. Hyderabad is ridiculously hot.

@vandana7 She got partial dementia after a brain injury in 2010 car accident. Since then she has been with some or the other health issues and totally dependent.

Thank you for your appreciation and kind words. I am systematic and just control myself from going to extreme. Be it any work, I like structure and arrangement. She is a kidney patient. We can't go wrong with her diet and medicine. She shows a lot of electrolyte imbalance and that can be threatening. So anyone in care of her has to be really careful.

You sound like me. My kids and grandson live in the north of the USA and I live in the south. We are planning a trip to New Jersey in June as my youngest grandson graduates high school and is going to Rhode Island to college. That is about 5 hours from his house. Between going back and forth to visit my family up north it seems we are spending part of our life in the car. I do love going to see everyone though. I lived up there and will see many of my long time friends that I have had since I was 9 years old. I am now 76.

@arunima25 Thank you very much. His brother graduated 2 years ago and after a year in college, he quit and joined the Navy. Now he is in the Persian Gulf and we have no idea when we will see him again. Luckily we live in this day and age and we are able to see him every so often actually working on the ship he is on. He can also post on facebook so we do see him every so often. Modern technology is great.

Wow! You must be very tired of packing. I only have 1 list for packing in my notebook and I always use it for packing things before I travel. It is the same things anyway every time I travel abroad. Roll the clothes when you pack them in your luggage. That's the way I do to have more space. Enjoy traveling.
