First of all, NO real grasshoppers are harmed when making this pie. I can no more explain why it's called "Grasshopper Pie" than I can explain why a dish of sausages baked in batter is called "Toad in the Hole".
It involves a chocolate liqueur and Creme de Menthe , cream and more chocolate, so it's quite a boozy pie. Maybe, after eating it, you get to jump around and bounce off the ceiling, I don't know!
Grasshopper Pie is a classic recipe that made a comeback! The chocolate and mint are outstanding and it's such an easy dessert recipe!

Actually, I believe that it's called Grasshopper Pie after the cocktail or drink called a Grasshopper which involves 1 part Creme de Cacao, 1 part Creme de Menthe and 1 part cream - a bit like a mint chocolate Bailey's, if you know what I mean.
