Single and happy for almost 3 years

My ex boyfriend and I decided to part ways almost 3 years ago. It wasn't really a terrible break up as compared to my other relationships before. He was a "chill" dude. I was doing fine with my life until people are starting to get curious about my love life. It's okay at first but as time progress, it's starting to bother me. They wanted to get married. I don't even have a boyfriend so how can that be possible, right? In Asian countries, this issue is common. It's like it's a mortal sin to be somehow independent and free.

If you enjoy being on your own then you should stay free and independent. I lost my husband in August 2017 and relocated back to the U.S. and I live alone and plan on living all my days that way. I could not imagine meeting anyone else.

I'm sorry for your loss. I hope you're doing fine. I'm happy to know that you were able to stay on your own without having rely on anyone.

@eLsMarie it was something I knew I had to do and there was no other choice so I have settled for what I have.

Don't let anyone influence you on this matter.

It's just so hard at times because they're family.

My daughter is single and a mum of two. She finds it hard at times and misses the adult company of a partner especially on outings with the children where there are families She would love to meet someone and settle down but sadly good men are few and far between in Ireland. .

That is so true. I guess it's so hard to find people nowadays that are genuine enough. I hope she finds her match.

They cannot force it. Tell them that thereĀ“s no one around.

I told them that too but they felt more and more awful with it.

I think these people are still a traditional thinker. It is still your decision.

Yes. I am surrounded with both close minded and traditional folks.

@Shavkat I think it is because you're a guy. Like you can still have your own kids by your 40's or even 50's. You're lucky that you don't have controlling parents.

@eLsMarie I am still single and they don't need to question me why. It is a good thing that my parents are not like this except for my 100-year-old granny.
