~Change Your Focus~

So, I don't usually write so close together but something happened and got me to thinking that someone may benefit from reading this... I had a phone call from someone who was venting about things that were happening in their life. They said sorry, I know you have your own stress and worries going on. I said, actually I don't and I never mind being a listening ear & praying. And they were baffled by hearing "No I Don't." Of course things are NOT perfect all the time in my life-as most of you know. It's not what happens, it's how you react to it. I have faith that God will take care of things for us. That comes from reading the Bible-God's love letter to His children, getting to know my Father more every day, answered prayers, and listening to worship music. No matter what you are going through today-CHANGE YOUR FOCUS! Even if you don't have faith, focus on something positive-not for me but for YOU and your happiness. Image is partially the inside of the van-van needs either a fuel filter or pump but God's got it.

@LovingMyBabies I agree! I have my true blue friends and a wonderful family, and at the end of the day, that's all that matters. I feel so very blessed. I'm always there for them all as they are for me.

Changing your focus without working to solve the problem is like ignoring the elephant in the room and is self-defeating

@josie_ I don't solve anything-God does. He is a good Father! =)

@josie_ No. John 10:10 clearly states the enemy comes to kill, steal and destroy. God comes to bring love and life. People who say God causes them don't read the Bible much...and they don't know my Father at all. He loves us so much that He sent His only son to die for us! =)

@LovingMyBabies _If God solves problems, does he also cause them? I ask because a lot of people blame God for their problems.

I agree that changing your focus to something more positive is good advice, although I realise it is easier said than done for many. Just yesterday, though, I was in a similar situation to yours. I met up with a friend. My friend has depression. The major issue there is that she is not able to have children of her own. Of course, I understand that depression isn't something that can just change and I know it isn't a matter of just getting over it. What I did think, though, was that a change in her attitude would help my friend. She is married to a man who has 4 adult children - one of those children has a child while another has one on the way. My friend seems to separate herself from all of that. She seems to want to overcome her issue of not being able to have children of her own (which, of course, is not something that she is going to be resolved) yet she does not seem to want to embrace the children she has in her life. Well, I don't understand anyway. Perhaps because I have children of my own but I accept my partner's children, and his grandchildren are my grandchildren. I may be wrong but a simple change of attitude from my friend from 'husbands children and their babies' to 'our children' or, at least 'his children and our grandchildren' would go a long way to improving my friend's mental health.

@pumpkinjam This is EXACTLY what I'm talking about!! You just said it way better than I did. Lol. So thank you. Yes I agree with you, if she focused on the little ones that are in her life already she would see that as such a blessing-instead of focusing on the fact she can't have kids. I know how upsetting that can be too, before mine I had a couple miscarriages and was told I'd never have kids. But at the time I focused on babysitting more and enjoyed those kids. =)

@LovingMyBabies I wasn't sure if I was being selfish about my friend. I'm glad you understand. My friend doesn't seem to realise that her attitude upsets me - she chooses not to involve herself with her (husband's) grandchild. I break my heart every day that our grandchildren will never really know us because we only get to see them once a year.

Every one has problems, it's just how you handle them makes all the difference in the world!! When I get overwhelmed with problems I ask God to take over. Most the time though, I think of something worse that could have happened and what really happened doesn't seem so bad.

@STOUTjodee Yes absolutely! God has gotten us all through some awful times and it is good to look back and realize He can get us through anything.

@Juliaacv Well we all sometimes need someone to talk to and that's one thing. It's another to never see the blessings if we only ever see the bad. That's not you at all! =)

@Michellekidwell Oh goodness, no perfection here either. It might take me a minute or an hour to collect myself when something hits but after the praying/crying moment-I give it to God.

When things get kind of tough I always think to myself things will eventually get better but there are people who have it so hard and for them, things won't get better. Then I always thank the Lord for all the good I have in my life.

you are right, what ever thing that come your way, either good or bad, you have to give your self to God at the end and stop disturbing your self about it.
