That's Not Very Nice

Beautiful scenery but apparently artists are not particularly welcome here. The sign in my image was posted at the foot of the stairs leading up to the view that I shared in a discussion yesterday. My daughter is an artist. She loves to paint (and draw and do all sorts of other arty things). Sitting on top of Bell Mountain with an easel and a palette would appeal to her. Clearly, though, it is not an activity that is approved of at this particular location.

@sophiamorros The sign itself is a bit of an eye sore.

I understand the reason for the sign. People with spray cans have made a rather significant mess!

@SophiaMorros That's quite foul. God doesn't really need that kind of help to make the universe pretty.

Is there a reason for this?

@Nevena83 the signs were to prevent people from painting the rocks and the stairs.

@SophiaMorros But why would anyone forbid it?

May be there is some reasons to fix that board there. I am not sure why they prohibit paintings there.

I went to read this post first when I spotted the second discussion. I would have guessed the reason...but without seeing the desecration caused by idiots I might have been confused.

What differentiate graffiti from street arts like those of Banksy? Although they may enliven drab urban areas, they have no place in natural surroundings. These scenery took millenniums to create.

It sad that people need these reminders.
