Wasting money or are we?

Some items cost too much and we might feel we are wasting money when we make a purchase.
However, we do notice certain things really are worth a higher price to us as we consider the expense.
For us, we prefer certain food items that might cost more than a neighbor is willing to pay. That is certainly okay.
When it comes to some clothing items, we know there are things that will last for years, so the extra expense seems okay to us.
Do you feel this way about some things that seem a little costly?

And there are expenses such as that we find important to us, so it is justified @just4him

Quality items are worth the extra money to us @LadyDuck
It does seem we will spend less in the end.

@PatZAnthony When we bought this house, 20 years ago, I decided to buy an expensive washing machine and drier. I spent 3 times more that the cheap brands, but I am still using the same and they are perfect.

There are many things we prefer to purchases that are better quality @simone10
It does not make sense to us to buy the cheaper items if there if the quality is not the same.

Paying a little more for a better item is often our choice, but certain things we can do without.

@lyndakerby Once you have the charger and a few batteries then you start to save money. Of course you need enough for the initial outlay.

I like to look for higher quality clothes, but still at thrift stores. Example, I like to find Old Navy at thrift stores.

I always believe in the saying " we get what we pay for " I would pay good money for quality knowing they would last forever , I also would not trade cheap for comfort and safety. I would spend more for a quality pair of jeans, sunglasses, shoes both leather and rubber, tools and my personal pocket knives, bag, emergency items like flashlight. I would buy the best money can buy on these items.

I've been keeping an eye on repeat purchases to see if buying better quality will be worth while in the end but as yet I haven't made a proper diagnoses on those @PatZAnthony

Quality has become more important to us now than when we were younger. Like you, we want quality food. Some items really don't matter @rebelann

So we can wind up paying more in the end by getting the cheaper item @MALUSE
We should consider that with all things.

Sometimes that is just how it is @Hannihar
Certain things we wait for the sales to hit, then buy extra.

Yes, there are many things that won't matter that much to me, such as socks. These can be less expensive @nela13
But the vegetables we want, we are okay with paying a bit more for better quality.

Sometimes it is better to spend on somethings that cost more but serve you more, rather than spending a penny on something that will have no use at all.

My husband will pay more for certain food items, and his jeans. I buy the cheapest of whatever is available because I always fear running out of money.

We eat well and we do buy what we want but not all the time. We are retired and living a nice life in our old age because we saved in many ways. I said we are retired but both of us still has a home based business and although its doesn't take a lot of time it does help with the bank account.

I am a frequenter of the Dollar Tree where you can get some bargains on snacks, toiletries and household items. I also use rechargeable batteries and timers on lamps in my home. I've got some clothes from past decades I still wear
