I had the TV news on right when they had breaking news about how the Notre Dame Cathedral had caught fire. The fire led to the structures main Spire to collapse.
This is so sad. The building has been around for centuries. It is a historical landmark.
It is a tourist attraction. And I am glad to say that I did see it when I went to Paris back in 1983.
The famed Notre Dame Cathedral in Paris was engulfed in flames on Monday leading to the collapse of the structure's main spire.

I never got to see it in person, and indeed it is devastating news. I doubt that it is gonna be rebuilt or something.

@LeaPea2417 :/ I heard the news and France's president claimed that they will rebuild it, but don't think it's going to be the same.

That is what I was thinking, Holy Week. You don't think it could be a terrorist attack, do you?

@LeaPea2417 No, it's not a terrorist attack, the fire started from the wood structure built to reach the roof. There were works going on inside the cathedral.

@LadyDuck Yes, I did end up hearing about renovations being done within, and something with that caused it.

It is sad, but at least they were able to salvage some of the artifacts.

@LeaPea2417 Yes, it is. They already raised $1B for its restoration.

Makes one wonder how the fire started and got so out of hand.

It is over 800 years old and to almost lose something of that age is tragic, I have also visited there and enjoyed touring the cathedral.
