Yard Work: Picking up Sticks

The storm that passed through our area today is now over. We didn't have any major damage or any tornados around me, thankfully. The photo is a pile of sticks that I picked up from our yard after last weekend's storm passed through. I have several piles all over the yard like the one in the photo. I am hoping that the wind did not blow the sticks out of my piles. However, I know that I will have lots of more sticks and limbs down after today's storm. I will have another day of yard work to do just in picking up sticks and limbs over the 2 acres. I'm sure we will have enough for a big bonfire. Once the ground dries up some I'll need to get back on the mower and cut some grass. I never finished the mowing after the last day of cutting. We have to get with the system because the hubby has several more weeks before he can get back to regular activities following his surgery. Anyone want to come and join in the fun?

We hook the yard cart behind the mower when we have to clean up sticks. Already had a nice fire in the garden area from them.

We need one! We end up with a fire at least once a week. I am about to get leary of the trees. We had another big one fall across our driveway two years ago. Wasn't pretty.

@wolfgirl569 The same here! I have a couple that are too close to the house that scares me now that we have lost two trees in the last couple of years.

That was only one pile of sticks! I had several more. It's easier to just make a pile in whatever area and then go back when done and get the entire pile. He's doing good and shold get to take the neck brace off in the middle of next month.

Oh, that was only one pile. Plus now I have all the limbs of the big tree that got hit by lightning and fell today. Not going to be fun getting that one up

Upon seeing this pile of sticks, the very thing that came to me is to cook with it. I really like doing it,

I don't think I'll be doing that. If camping, yes, a great idea.

That reminds of my childhood when we had to gather sticks ( we called firewood ) to cook our dinner. Many of my countrymen cook their food the old fashion way.

We cook like that on camping trips sometimes, depending on where we are camping. It's nice :)
