My husband is a very responsible and experienced driver. He worked as a truck driver for several years and he got his licence 35 years ago. One of our friends constantly gives him unwanted advice when he is driving. A few examples:
"You are driving too fast here" (he wasn't, but our friend misread the sign)
"Why are you going that way? It is much faster to drive the other way" (not true, we live here and we know the area better than our friend)
"It is not necessary to pay when you use this parking lot" (great idea - if you want to get a parking ticket)
My husband is much more patient and diplomatic that I am. I would have lost my patience long time ago.
How do you react when people give you unwanted advice about your way of driving?

I understand. I don't drive, but I know that I would be nervous as well and it would be harder to focus.

I don't drive either. My husband always drives our car. I don't comment on the way he drives. I know that he is a responsible driver and my comments would make it harder to concentrate while he is driving.

@LadyDuck In that case would also say something and warn him, but I never criticize his way of driving.

@Porcospino I keep my mouth shut unless I notice a danger that my husband did not notice.

I usually ask them if they would prefer to walk.

It is good that he stopped doing it. It is annoying to listen to that kind of comments. Most of our friends don't do it, but one friend does it all the time. He has a comment about everything.

Yes, unwanted advice isn't a good thing. One of our friends does it a lot. He always comments on the way my husband drives and gives him suggestions that he doesn't need.

@Sheali I agree. He always talks a lot, but the comments about my husband's way of driving don't help at all.

Yes, that is true. My husband got annoyed when he got all those comments, and they didn't improve his mood, but he is very polite.

That sounds my husband's situation. He has a lot of experience, and he has only had one accident. It happened because of the snow and ice and not because he wasn't careful. I would say the same thing as you. If they aren't happy with the way we do things, it might be time to find a different type of transportation.
