Its A Religious Holiday, You`re Not Religious, What Do You Do?

I thought about this while I was out today riding through town, all the people. A lot going into restaurants and fast food places. I often wondered what people who are not religious do on these holidays? On another subject..... My poor elderly friend of age 92, with tears in her eyes she said this was the first Easter she has ever spent alone, she had a stoke 3 months ago and is now a shut in. I asked what would she like to eat from the Chinese place and I bought it for her and delivered since she would not go with us. She told me I made her day, she was not alone all day after all. I did nothing fancy today, nor did I dress up. I celebrate Jesus everyday anyways. What did you do today?

We were at the endurance ride taking photos. I find solace, inspiration and blessings in my own way, in the natural world.

I celebrate Christmas - you know the party I throw for the less privileged. I have given up celebrating other feasts.

One grand celebration with a noble gesture is enough. I celebrate all festivals and more are being added up to my list with my children's enthusiasm. Christmas has become as grand celebration as Diwali for me. I also started with flower rangoli on Onam and making that special mixture on Ugadi.

People who aren't Christians do on Easter pretty much what people who aren't Muslim do during Ramadan or people who aren't Jewish do on Rosh Hoshanah. ??

We spent most of the day in the sun. My mom and her friend made a big breakfast for us and we went out to a really nice restaurant for dinner. We aren't religious but we did do something a bit upscale for Easter dinner together.

Just enjoy it like everyone else. Some people like to take all the fun out "becaue I don't believe in that nonsense bla bla bla". Well hey I don't believe in Pilgrims, but I darn sure aint letting that keep me away from Stuffing and mashpotoes with extra gravy. Today I watched my younger daughter, nieces and nephews have their Easter egg hunt. One nephew is 3, It was his first Easter hunt

Well, it was a Sunday after all, people are usually home from work on Sunday, where is the difference? Those who do not go to the Sunday Mass enjoy anyway the free day, there is no difference.

@andriaperry There isnt much to say except to point out that actually we all are. All we can do is go live now. Tomorrow could be a tornado or bad car crash. It dont have to be health related.

I woke up at 3am so that I could attend the dawn ritual for Easter at 4 am and attended Holy Mass after the Salubong Ritual ( Salubong is when Jesus meets her mother ) and then the choir of angels will sing Alleluia.

About the same as all the religious people around here do: spend lot of time outside and meet friends. I didn't go away this Easter, most people do. It has been really very quiet. Not a very religious country, I think most people going to church will be catholic immigrants.

@andriaperry We have one of the longest Easter holidays in Europe (possibly the world, haven't checked) and are very secular. We just like our days off.

I am not religious, but my family is. Either way, even for them it's just a nice excuse to get together. We went over to my sister and brother-in-law's house and had a barbeque. A simple brats and pork steaks thing with some good sides and some booze. It was fun. Great thing you did for that lady, I bet that did really mean a lot to her.
