what time is your lunch break and where do you eat?

lunch break in the philippines is usually 12 noon to 1 pm.
one of the places i worked at had a canteen/cafeteria, so there was always a long line during that time.
others would prefer to hear mass first at the auditorium, while others would go early like 11:45 a.m.
one officemate treated it as her me time and explored places around the area.
i've also worked in places where we had a pantry, but some people leave mugs in the sink, don't wipe the microwave when their food spilled or splattered, leave and forget food and drinks in the fridge that's there's no space left.
others bring packed lunch to eat at their desk, but the smell of food would linger in the air for a long time.
also, i noticed that having a pantry and eating at work stations tend to attract pests like ants, cockroaches and mice.

When I was at work we never had the time to stop for luch although we made an effort every Friday to have a lunch together. The rest of the time we would be at our desks working through lunch time. Our workload was too great.

even the physical therapists i've talked to say the same thing. once they clock in, say 8am, it's one patient after another. they get to eat 3, 4pm. some even developed GERD.

@hereandthere they must eat full and heavy meal at breakfast to keep them full until afternoon. GERD is not good.

When I worked in Manila our company provided free lunch and we had our pantry, lunch time is mostly 12 to 1 pm. Now I;m back to homebase where my place of work is walking distance from home I take lunch at home. Lunch break for us is 12 to 1 pm.

Some of the homecare places where I worked didn't have a cafeteria. We had to bring our lunch, and I usually ate a sandwich. Officially our lunch break was half an hour and it ended at 1 p.m., but in many cases we had extra clients to visit, so the actual lunch break was only 10 or 15 minutes.
At the hospital our lunch break was half an hour. There was a cafeteria and they had a cheap salad buffet. I liked their salad and I never brought my own lunch.

@hereandthere That is true, we don't have much time to rest. Homecare is especially bad when it comes to lunch breaks and other breaks. If one of the employees is sick the rest of us have to visit more clients, and there is hardly any time for breaks.

@Porcospino you'd be so tired by the time you get home but have to deal with home stuff too like dinner, etc

wow, your lunch breaks are so short. it doesn't even give you time to rest a bit, some personal time.

@ARN4567 it's nice of your co-workers to invite her and share the blowout with her.
what about during the rainy season, and it happens to be raining hard when it's time for lunch, do you still go home to eat?

When I worked, I usually took my lunch at noon and bought it at a nice delicatessen which had fresh bread. I worked as a sales rep and took my lunch when my customers took their lunch.

Sometimes, I buy from the ground floor's food hall, and have it as a take out during snack time , for my lunch.
However, i always take an early lunch because I only eat bread with fillings and eggs or whatever for breakfast. So, I eat at the food hall or at one of the restos that offer employees meal 65 for two viands with rice and 50 for one viand and rice but with free soup.
That way, I have nothing to wash after eating.

@hereandthere Yes, because that is two viands. I always have a veggie dish to partner my other meat or fish viand.

@hereandthere - When I worked for a local school district, we got about 40 minutes for lunch. Usually, a group of us sat in the teacher's lounge and chatted. Before that, I was a Realtor for a long time. Then, I just grabbed lunch on the run whenever I could. It was a very busy time for me.

I never saw those pests in the workplace. I always ate in the lunchroom which was mostly tables and a counter with a microwave and sink. For an hour a day, a company would come in, set up their work station and serve lunch. Now that I'm retired, I eat whenever the urge necessitates. Usually at my computer.
