What should you do if you are ever bitten by an animal or even a pet?
Here is what happened to one woman and what happens to thousands of people every year.
"The disease kills thousands of people every year, mostly in Asia and Africa, where it is prevalent." (BBC News)
She died! So,if you are ver bitten by any animal even a pet go quickly to the hospital and get a rabies shot.
Have you ever been bitten by a pet or an animal?
I have not been bitten yet but my brother was delivering advertising flyers and was bitten by a dog. He went quickly to the hospital and was given rabies shots.

Well that is sad. Most domestic pets have rabies shots though, or don't come into contact with rabid animals. However, if bitten by a stray, you should probably get checked out.

Yes, in most countries pets are given rabies shots but best not to take chances and go to a hospital to have it taken care of.

That's why anti rabies and booster shots are important if you truly love your pet, " an ounce of preventioñ is worth more than a pound of cure. Oh btw there's a shortage in rabies vaccine now in our country if you are bitten by a dog that already have rabies but there is ample supply for dogs as preventive.

@cacay1 I can bear the pain but dying due to rabies is unbearable, people go crazy and hydrophobic before dying because the virus goes to the brain

5 years ago while mowing our lawn, I was attacked and bitten by 2 young Rottweilers owned by our neighbor. Thank heavens I survived. One of the dogs had to be put down

@antonbunot Glad you survived. Those kind of dogs can be dangerous. Here there have been some serious injuries and even deaths due to dog attacks.

Depends on the bite and animal, but in most cases you should get it checked out.
I woudn't have cared about rabies here, as there's none as far as I know, but for most other countries I would have checked that. I'm planning to renew my thetanus vaccine fairly soon, if I get bitten before that, I would probably have a shot for that too. Thetanus is a bad way to die

@1hopefulman Yes, the tetanus bacteria is found mainly in soil, saliva, dust, and manure. So if an animal with the bacteria bites you, you can get infected. Also if you have wounds and work with animals, you don't need to be bitten to get it

I have never been bitten and have always been very careful. Just my darling cat has shown his temper once a long time ago and I had a bad scratch.

I was bitten my neighbor's dog, six bites, one in 2 inches deep. That was in 2012. I have just arrived home my short months teaching in China. In the evening I went out to buy a load to a store next to my house without sensing the dog coming nearer and after some seconds captured my left left with his sharp teeth, so huge dog. He was about to jump to bite my face, but my Adrenalin gland functioned and there my right leg kicked the dog and he fell down. Then neighbors saw me and informed the store owner about their ferocious dog. My sister washed the dog bites in a running water with soap and after that she robbed the wounds with fresh garlic. The bleeding stopped, but the pain continued. The owner offered to bring me to the doctor, but I told them not that evening, but next day morning. When I woke up, I felt my left leg disappeared, I felt the void of my leg.I had a temporary paralysis, then my nephew, nurse massage my leg and let me stand.Gradually the energy restored and the dog owner brought me to Medical center where I received anti rabies injection and anti tetanus injection for a series of 7 Mondays. That was truly horrible experience in my life.

We do not have wild animals here, but I think that if a pet dog bite me, I would sue the owner. I do not know how it is with you there, but here they behave quite violently and irresponsibly. Only when you hit them on their pocket (when they have to pay a fine) they become responsible
