Waiting for summer and photo opportunities

We've had some icy cold weeks with snow and hail and wind, way too cold for May. Blaming climate change, as it is now going to get way too hot for May, but at least then it'll be nice to go out and take pictures again!
I like taking photos in the winter too, but this half winter/half spring we've had now isn't good for much. The light is dull, the colours are all grey and brown and it's too wet for the camera.
For inspiration I'm posting one of my pictures from last summer of my horse reflected in the water.
If we had swum out a bit further, this would have been a Norwegian fjord horse in a Norwegian fjord! As it's now, it's a Norwegian fjord horse in a Norwegian river :-)

Why did not you put a normal horse photo? This looks beautiful, at least what can be seen ... has an unusual color I would say

Normal horse photos are for normal people! *evil grin*
There'll be normal horse photos at some point I think. Once I finish with making exams, making exams is more work than taking them. After I've made them I plan to take lot of new pictures of horses, dogs and bugs.

@LowRiderX I've been sorting through horse photos lately and realized how many I have.

@1hopefulman Water won't be warm until July/August. I live by a fjord, so we have cold rivers because of water from the mountains and a cold fjord 'cause it's big and it takes time to warm it.
Some times it's warm quite late in the autumn

great pic! giggled o'er yer last sentence.
'tis been a strange spring fer nearly all folks 'cross the globe't seems. climate change, mother natures 'ttempts 't correctin' all the wrongs 'r simply the earths e'er changin' design?? so many debates'n such, but i'm fer the 1st 2 's man continues to 'buse with lil regards to the future outcomes 'f such.
i've been less'n 'nspired myself to get out'n snap pics. not due to moisture, nor e'en all the brown'n the ground. 'tis the high winds'n flyin' dirt. jest no way to protect the camera from such. times's these i wish i'd film 's those ol' cameras 're way less sensitive.

I still have my film cameras somewhere, you could have had one of those had you been here :-)
High winds and flying dirt doesn't sound very nice. We get that in the winter when there's no snow but still cold, not really the best time to take pictures. I'm thinking about doing some serious photography this summer, see if I can take some pictures with the theme climate change/pollution, but it'll probably just make me sad and depressed

@crazyhorseladycx I have some film in the fridge. It's been there for at least 14 years, I've got no idea if it works anymore. Maybe I'll use it this summer and see what comes out.
I've been teaching a class about energy and climate this spring. I'm going to teach it again next spring, so I should educate myself too. Seeing what climate change does for locally would be a good way to do it. I think we have a mixture here, of people wanting to do things and those thinking that it's no problem. Sadly, the politicians mainly seem to be in the last group.

@Torunn that's wonderful! please lemme know how such turns out. i used to e'en develop my own film, but 's times changed 'n my chemical sensitivities grew, i donated such to a local college. refuse to turn loose 'f my cameras though, lol.
yepperz, 'd be brilliant if'n ya could show the local 's that point seems to hit home more'n what'd be goin' global. 'tis been my findin' that fer too many, if'n these sorta thingies don't 've adverse 'ffects'n 'em personally, they tend to turn the other cheek.
oh, those politicians....a corrupt lot 'f folks fer the most part. sad they start out with good intent 'n then 's they progress 're so bought'n paid fer by folks 'f greed...

@magallon Depends on how far north you are. Today the sun sets at 22.16 here, but it takes another hour I'd say before it's really dark.
In a couple of week it won't get really dark even when the sun isn't there, and then in winter it's really dark nearly all the time

Yeah, I know what you mean. Light is of utmost importance when you're taking pictures, it can make a difference between art and photo .
