I know I should have been working but ...

The weather here in the UK finally seems to have realised it's Spring and not Winter.
I had to take a trip to the doctor's surgery in the village this morning for a routine blood test and the plan had been that we'd take a trip out if the weather was good so that I could take some photos to share with my MyLot friends. However, just before we left for the doctor's Adam received a text message that a delivery would be arriving for him today but unfortunately, unlike other delivery companies, this one didn't give any inkling as to whether it would be morning or afternoon so unfortunately we had to come straight back home.
I then began working but Adam decided, as it was such a lovely day, he'd cut back the lilac bush. He then called for my help so I dropped what I was doing and went out into the lovely warm sun. My neighbour, Helen, then called to me over the fence so, before I knew it, it was almost lunch time.
For the first time this year I had my lunch sitting out in the garden and then I decided to take a few cuttings - sage, pinks and rosemary - which got me in the 'must buy plants' mood and so I just had to look for some more plants for my garden. It's my birthday on Monday so Adam told me that if I found something I liked then I could order it and he'd give me the money. Having looked at various websites I eventually went to my good old reliable Amazon. A company was selling 24 dahlia plug plants for £7.99. We haven't got a huge garden so I was pleased that this particular variety, Figaro, only grow to about 12 inches high and the wonderful thing is that if I take the tubers up in autumn and pop them in the garage, I can plant them again next year.
Last year I happened to find a rosemary plant for 99p in my local supermarket. The idea is that you keep the herb indoors and then just cat as you need it but I put mine in a large garden urn outside. It's now looking wonderful and it was so much cheaper than buying one from a garden centre. A few years back I did the same thing with a sage pot and it's massive now.
So a productive day in the garden but not productive monetarily! Thankfully, as I'm self employed and work from home I choose when I work and today I chose to take a holiday! And just to make my day complete, I heard the first cuckoo this year and saw a marsh harrier hovering over the meadow.

I've got a bay tree which is great for most stews and casseroles and I also have mint - great for flavouring lamb and also great for a refreshing cup of tea; sage which has beautiful blue flowers which makes it doubly good for a garden; coriander which is incredibly easy to grow; rosemary which adds colour to the garden with blue flowers; lavender again with blue flowers and chives which are easier to look after than onions and have beautiful flowers.

No doubt about it my garden is definitely my bit of heaven. If I'm worthy of ever getting to the real place I'd love it to be just like my garden.
