Today, June 5th is one of my sister's birthday. ( I have three sisters) But now I'll also remember it as the date of my final knee surgery. My first knee was replaced in February of 2017. As you can see in the picture I'm in the hospital socks and hooked up to IV's and waiting for the next step in the process. I've promised to be around more at least while I'm off work for the next three months. I will be having physical therapy in the hospital morning and afternoon while here but my nights should be fairly free. Once home I do have things to accomplish but may have to wait a week or so when I'm more mobile. Therefore I should have more time to mylot. Eventually I need to get a few things done that I've put off. Surgery it's supposed to begin about ten am and last an hour and a half. I may be in recovery for a bit too. The part I'm not looking forward to it's the two shots I'll get in my back that will numb it in preparation for the spinal that will be used instead of being intubated. So see you all real soon.

Thank you. I've been waiting for this day a long time. The other knee was worse but once that was taken care of this one went downhill fast. Cashiering isn't easy on the joints. I was surprised to find five responses so quick as I just added my image. Is forgotten that I posted the text first in case I got an error.

@cacay1 once my knee is that healed my time here will again be more limited as I'll be back to working two jobs once more. Even though I have more time now, I still enjoy my game games and i need get busy getting rid of paper clutter and doing some going and one book review.

Any pain I have should get less as it heals and I use the leg/knee. When I got my first knee done and the initial swelling went down I realized I didn't have actual pain but mostly discomfort which was more manageable. I decided to have the surgery now so I could get outside and walk with my walker. Last time I gained weight and I'm going to lose not gain this time around.

@Janet357 no but it was winter and I didn't walk enough. I did go to physical therapy three times a week. But that was about it. Now I'm doing keto so I shouldn't gain but I can also walk outside too.

Happy birthday to your nephew. How old is he? I get three months to fully recover from my surgery although I'm expected to begin walking the same day.

I was braver walking on it for too many years. I should have had these done five years ago. Although my insurance back then may not have paid for as much.

My best wishes for your surgery, the two shots in the spine are not nice, but the recovery is quicker than using the old method of intubation.

The two shots weren't as bad this time. They did give me a little sedation beforehand which I'm sure I never got the last time. I'm glad I didn't needed to be intubated. They didn't use a pain meds for the nerves since last time it made me really nauseated. I felt a bit funky this afternoon after I was in my room and it was minimal. I've eaten, had two sets of visitors and feel much better now.

@MarshaMusselman My husband had two surgeries and he was all the time sedated before the two shots. It is a lot better than intubation, that always causes nausea. I wish you a quick recovery.

@LadyDuck thank you Anna. I still have no actual pain which may change after my first set of therapy this morning but I've been lifting my leg somewhat to prepare for that. I do have what I'm calling discomfort and took the pain pills so I can push better doing therapy. I may hurt more then but I don't expect it to be very bad even then. We did my washing up and dressing early so I could sleep until the Dr comes by before breakfast. That took longer than I expected. My idea was to get to sleep longer when done. But of I stay in mylot that won't happen. I might have a bit of time before therapy to check in otherwise around lunch.

@crazyhorseladycx my main plan was to not have pain and that seems to be the case. I do have discomfort but not much. I'm guessing I may be sore after therapy but sore isn't always pain so we'll see. I'm hoping to stay till Friday to make sure I can walk alone, but with the walker, since I will be alone for a few hours at first.

hugs back at you. Yes I'm in a room but no idea when that happened. (Edited: I've no idea what I meant by that sentence as I was awake when going to my room. Maybe my phone thought it sounded good and added it) I ate a half salad about three and salmon at 6:30. I got a little nap in between the two meals. Had two sets of visitors and now may mylot for a bit.

@MarshaMusselman No it was my hip Marsha. It was nearly 4 years I ago, but the other one needs doing now. I'm putting it off as long as I can. Hope your op went well and you are not too uncomfortable.

Thanks Janet. How long has it been now since you had your replacement? And I feel it was a knee for you too but I could be wrong.

@jaboUK I am uncomfortable but the pain or discomfort isn't extremely high. Yet things are different this time around and possibly because I'm in less pain pills I feel like I'm going backward rather than forward. As far as your other hip. I know we used to hear to wait as long as possible but I think that's a bit of a misnomer. A lot of things can impact you not getting the surgery so it might be better to consider it sooner rather than later.

I hope you spend more time exercising than any other thing. My second knee was easier only because i knew what to do. The exercise is the key. The more you move, the faster you will be normal...

Praying for your successful surgery and fast recovery. If you do not mind me asking, why do you need knee surgery?

10 Jun 19
Because my knee joints are bone on bone. Does no one get the see surgery in your country? It will enable me to work a few more years which is needed so I can an get out of debt before retiring.

@Iam_jauntyjen so does that mean the knee no longer pops or that what you took and didn't help that much so you never went back. Many times we just don't want to bother, but when it gets bad enough we have to do something more. It's you bills in Korea or back in the Philippines and where did he have his knee surgery and it's he doing better now?

@MarshaMusselman My brother-in-law underwent knee surgery last year. Before immigrating in Korea, I had my right knee checked because it occasionally pops. I underwent four weeks of therapy ( 2x a week) and was prescribed to take a collagen supplement. But when I finished the bottle of collagen pills, I have never taken them again. I also haven't gone to visit an orthopedic since then.
