The mosquitoes here where I live are so big they will carry you away!
We often joke that the mosquito is our official state bird!
In our community, we control the mosquito population with bats. Hundreds of thousands of bats!

@Nevena83 Mosquitoes don't seem to bother me as much as they used to. Maybe it's because the bats are doing such a great job eating them! The bats are cute little Mexican fruit bats, they don't bite people and they don't look like the vampire bats we see on TV and in the movies. They just leave people alone and come out at night and spend all night eating mosquitoes!

There are too many of them here, I used Raid but it does not help. Try the spiral that ignites. They do not like smoke that's for sure

yes ma'am, they'd be here. such most oft not happenin' 'til late july... i use dunks 'n skeeter sprinkles (they'd be safe fer birds, critters'n other 'nsects) 'round places i cannot empty 'f standin' water. keepin' weeds down'd be 'mportant, too. they can produce'n the tiniest 'f puddles... 's fer keepin' 'em off yer person? i've nary a clue's to what essential oils y'ave access to there. ya might do a web search fer proven, safe methods fer such.

@Nevena83 no ma'am, 'tis too late to prevent such. all one could do now'd be stop the future generations 'f 'em. there's many ways to keep 'em from bitin' ya though. non-toxic ways, both fer yerself 'n the others critters.
do ya 've any vanilla 'xtract? if'n so, skeeters don't like ya smellin' like a yummy cookie fer some reason. there's citronella oil, lemongrass oil 'n peppermint oil that can be mixed with the vanilla to make such stronger if'n needed (sometimes skeeters, like humans, can be most persistent, lol) - jest add a few drops 'f each oil 'nto a carrier oil (somethin' light, like sunflower) 'fore applyin' to yer skin/'r clothin'.

We don't have many mosquitoes here in NZ. I see one or two rarely... But there were a lot back in SriLanka and we used citronella oil to prevent bites.

@amandajay That's wonderful. If they continue to bite me, nothing will remain with me.

We do, but not as many as you would think. I put on spray if I go in the yard for any extended period of time.

There are really many of them here and it gets so frustrating, because I have bites on my whole body.

Oh, really? I'm jealous now. There are millions of them here, they bite me every day.

And I hate them. My legs look terrible, because mosquitoes have eaten them.
