Started Counting My Steps and Calories

So far (knock on wood) I haven't had any serious health issues. But, I could stand to lose about 30 pounds. And, after my dad passed away last week, I realized I should make much more of an effort to do so, partly to make sure my daughters, who just lost their grandfather, have me in their lives for as long as possible.
I'm not disciplined enough to stick to a diet or join a gym. However, I can count calories and can keep track of my steps. So, I've basically been recording what I eat and making sure I have enough steps to burn off the food I am eating.
It's working too. I'm already down a little more than 4 pounds.
Of course, I'm going to have to figure out how to maintain this after the summer months. It's easy to get my steps in when it's warm outside. Not so easy when we are having sub-zero temperatures.

I can understand why you want to be around for your daughters. I am so sorry about your loss. All you have to do is start slowly by cutting things out of your life that are not good for you and slowly do more. That is great that you lost 4 pounds. The trick is to keep it off. Maybe do some exercises and also do some walking. Good luck.

That is awesome. I need to start tracking my steps again. I know they have increased with my mom here and having to keep an eye on her. Congrats on your commitment and sticking with it. I agree with you about the walking and frigid temperatures. Cold weather is not my thing.
