Ding Dong, Portugal Calling

It has been a crazy day of phone calls. After several political and scam calls, I got one from 001-111-1111. I looked it up and found it under 1-800 Notes. The number is under investigation by Policia Judiciaria, Portugal.
What I want to know is why Portugal is calling me? I will never find out. They did not leave a message but I expect them to call again.
Do you get crazy calls from countries that have no connection to your life? Do you string them along or ignore them? What is the funniest call you ever got?

the calls come from all o'er, diff'rent area codes'n the like show'n my phone. when such goes to voicemail though, 'tis 'lways the same # showin' there.

I know this one was from Portugal because I looked it up and found that the Portuguese police are investigating. The caller was a smooth talker, sounded like he just stepped out of an Ivy League college so some people will be fooled into thinking he is legit.

I had a call from India telling me they were ringing from Microsoft and I had a virus on my computer. I strung them along for three days asking them to call me back at a certain time which they did. Unfortunately the next day he rang two hours earlier than I had said and I acted very cross with him. He rang back 2 hours later very apologetic. I strung him along making out I was a complete idiot with computers saying oh blimey my computer has crashed. Now the screen has gone blue etc etc. In the end I told him do you seriously think I would give you access to my computer. I have an MA in Computer technology but on a brighter note I have stopped you fleecing someone who is not so savvy. He called me something quite rude and I laughed my head off and put the phone down!

I suppose they are trying to earn a living even if it is dishonest and deceptive. They might not even know they are doing wrong. I remember reading somewhere online that someone told the scammer to stand in a certain spot at some exact time and wear a sign saying that he is an idiot. The scammer did it.

I have also gotten lots of them. a lot of times I think someone gives out the wrong number and it just happens to be mine or the caller has looked at or written down a number making a mistake with one of the digits etc.
My strangest one is probably the scariest. yrs. ago, I had broken up with my hubby, he had moved out and moved in with another woman he was cheating with. It was 3 in the morning and just myself and 11 yrs old was in the house. and he was asleep. The guy called and I did not recognize his voice. He insisted that I was Irene and he was going to come over and do some nasty things to me. I told him I wasn't that lady and he said he was on his way. I got scared and hung up. I did not sleep for nights after that. My older son finally came over and spent a few nights till I could get over it.

I have gotten more calls with a message. They claim to be from American Powerball and there is a check to be delivered to my home. I have to call a number and speak to a guy whose name I don't remember. I can see scam all over that. I hope nobody falls for it.

Are you sure it was from Portugal? Our phone numbers aren't like that one.
