The Refrigerator, Food and More

I looked around the fridge and I knew I needed to take a day and just get this done. But first I needed to peel that 5 pound bag of potatoes, they were beginning to wrinkle, and get those canned up. I had more than the canner would hold so vegetable soup was what I made with the extra. This is what was in the fridge that I had to use. 3 tomatoes, 1/2 bag of carrots, mushrooms and a onion. I added those baby corns and green beans from a tin can. I used frozen okra I had grown. Added garlic, salt and pepper. I let it cook a little before home canning. I got 6 pints of soup and 7 pint of potatoes. Now I have food for up to 4 more years, but it wont last that long. With 2 carrots, an apple and a handful of raisins I made carrot slaw, or carrot salad. We finished off the eggs for breakfast. I still have broccoli and cauliflower to use but to tell you the truth, I was just tired of chopping and peeling. I have 1/2 gallon of rose infused water so I froze it till I have time, the sugar and pectin to make jelly.. I took the dogs for a walk and picked black berries but only to eat on as I walked. I had a bag in my pocket to puck poke salad but I was just to tired to clean it tonight so I didnt. I cut down weeds from the mint bed, chopped down some vine growing on the house, and chopped down poison Ivy. That is what I accomplished today, what did you do?

That sure was a lot. I am going to have fun over the weekend. I need to clean out my fridge so I have to find a moment when the kittens have all crawled away and are asleep otherwise I will have a fridge full of kittens.

I mostly did social stuff today. Caught up on local info and gossip I did not know. I dug up three kinds of mint to give to Sue. Do you ever make mint jelly? I have not made any kind of jelly in years, but I sure have enough to do that. After vacation.I have had sunflower jelly before. It mostly tasted like a light lemon flavor. Sue has a tall wild mint.It is blooming. I am sure the pollinators are enjoying it. My celery had frozen in my fridge, so I boiled it down, with some parsley leaves. It will be good stock to have on hand.

You got a lot accomplished as always! =) I have been recovering from a bad sinus infection, I took care of my kids, washed dishes, did laundry, listened to a sermon & shared a new flyer I made for my photography page.

Per usual, super woman you. I bought 20 pounds of Bing cherries this morning so I have had some tasty snacks and have started bagging some for the freezer. I also killed a million flies- not sure why but wow! A swarm has appeared from somewhere. I think, due to my arm swinging, there are far fewer dirty flies in house now.

@andriaperry Nope. I am not rich. 20 pounds of cherries cost me 30 dollars. Think about it: that's 1.50 a pound versus Safeway grocery store selling for 6.99 a pound.

My refrigerator is out of order. This is roasting summer heat in outskirts of Kolkata, India and no mechanic is coming this way. My family is compelled to live a primitive life.
