Welcome to Monday

It's Monday and we were up before the sun came up. Actually, the sun isn't coming up today. We woke up around 4:30 to a nice and heavy thunderstorm. This had my hubby jumping out of bed because... The AC/heater unit we purchased Saturday was still sitting in the back of his truck. I didn't panic because it was covered well with a tarp. We planned to put the unit in yesterday but we were stalled when he discovered that the plug didn't match the AC unit. Stores were closed on Sunday so he took today off to be able to go get new plug and fix that and then we will get the unit it. We did move the unit inside the house so I have my hall looking like a maze with this unit on a cart in the middle of it. Hopefully this will all go well and the unit will be in and running before lunch and I can head out to visit my mom this afternoon. On the plus side, with the rain today it will be a bit cooler. How is your weather today? Is it affecting your daily plans? Photo: Pixaby, public domain Photo: Pixaby

I like it when the sun is covered with clouds. I just need to get prepared for the winter. Warm clothes are enough for me usually. I know we are already at spetember (in 30 minutes in my country), but, I hope you are all right now and that you have learned how to set up the AC.

Yes, we are fine. That was just a window unit in our bedroom. We don't have central air or heat so have to depend on window units. With lows in the 80's it is hot at night and sleep can be hard with no air conditioner.

@stringer321 It is a window unit that pops into the window with a little tweaking and support. The hardest part was getting it inside due to the weight of it. We ended up buying a cart to roll it through the house and into the bedroom with. It ended up with a dent in it due to weight of the unit.

Yes, and hopefully tonight I will get used to the new sound it makes more and not wake up so much.

@LindaOHio The noise doesn't bother me, it was the on off deal constantly.

@kareng Eventually it should actually help you sleep by drowning out the other noises and making "white noise".

@wolfgirl569 We missed them yesterday and more today so we will see. Have high percentage of rain for Friday through next Tuesday so we are starting all over again.

It's a beautiful day today. A bit muggy, warm, and rain. It's sprinkling right now, and if it doesn't get any worse than that, it really will be a good day. Otherwise, they are predicting storms, the full throttle with hail. The only thing not on the board is a tornado. They've put that in the very low category of possibilities. So, I'm hoping for nothing more than sprinkles.

I hope you escaped any harsh weather today. I like soft rains like that. Very peaceful.

I sure wish we would get some rain. I love thunderstorms. Of course, my dog doesn't.

We haven't had a good rain in a few weeks, only sprinkles for five to ten minutes.

When we camp, we carry two adapters with us in case we wind up in a site that has only 30 amp or 20 amp service instead of the 50 amp our camper is wired for. Then, we have to be careful about what appliances we use so as not to overload the circuit. Our weather today is fair but supposed to get hot by this afternoon with highs above 90F (~32C).

This is a larger unit, 25,000 BTU and has a small plug. We are wired for the larger plug which the unit had that we took out and it was ony 22,000 BTU. Weird. I"m leary of the new unit now.

@DWDavis I'm thinking along the same line; they just found a new way to make the plugs. It is still the three prong plug, just not huge like the old one. I guess bigger is not always better..haha.

@kareng That does seem odd, but perhaps the new unit also means new and more efficient technology built in so it doesn't need as big a plug.

Actually, we had the same problem with a new washer and dryer last year. We needed an electrician and a plumber to hook the things up. Sigh..... We were away for a long weekend and had beautiful weather. Better yet, no traffic on the ride home!

There often seems to be a small hitch when you purchase something new. I hope you get the new air-conditioner installed.
