Have you ever heard of eating an Egg in a Hole? You can see from the photo that it is simply a fried egg and a slice of bread. You take a slice of bread, butter it, (some use bacon grease). Make a round hole in the center of the bread.
We have always used a small glass for the hole, works perfect if you get the right sized glass. I also fry the piece of bread that is cut out with the glass.
Next, heat up the frying pan, then break the egg in the center of the bread, in the hole. Let it cook for a couple of minutes. Turn it over, carefully, for another couple of minutes. Salt and pepper. And breakfast is served! Egg and toast all together.
We ate this a lot growing up. And I still enjoy it today. Every now and then I will cook bacon with it. But usually this is the meal.
Ever heard of this meal before? Plans for today?

I would eat the egg laid atop the toast and cut into pieces.

Yes I have and I love it! I like a little bit of run on the egg and the lovely taste of the fried bread.

Italians make it a lot with roasted red peppers packed in olive oil...at least that's what I remember. Yech. Yes, I'm going out to eat and will give a full report when I return. Hoping this meal is not meh.
