Egg in a Hole

Have you ever heard of eating an Egg in a Hole? You can see from the photo that it is simply a fried egg and a slice of bread. You take a slice of bread, butter it, (some use bacon grease). Make a round hole in the center of the bread. We have always used a small glass for the hole, works perfect if you get the right sized glass. I also fry the piece of bread that is cut out with the glass. Next, heat up the frying pan, then break the egg in the center of the bread, in the hole. Let it cook for a couple of minutes. Turn it over, carefully, for another couple of minutes. Salt and pepper. And breakfast is served! Egg and toast all together. We ate this a lot growing up. And I still enjoy it today. Every now and then I will cook bacon with it. But usually this is the meal. Ever heard of this meal before? Plans for today?

I have heard of this, but never had it. I think that it might be something that I would enjoy, so I'll probably try it soon.

@CarolDM I think that I'll use a dome to cook the egg as I prefer my eggs poached and steaming it might be the answer to that one.

@Juliaacv That should work. Good luck! I don't eat eggs often but when I do I either fry them or scrambled eggs are a favorite.
