Interestingly while enjoying July 4th with friends I ended up sharing my medication with a pitbull terrier. I had been prescribed a regime of Amoxicillian Antibiotics earlier in the week to help me deal with an infection, little did I know that dogs and cats actually take the same medications as humans, although in a much smaller dose. For every lbs of dog or cat the recommended dose is 5-10 mg every 12-24 hours. So, a days worth of antibiotics for me will last my new dog friend, Six, for 2 weeks! It is not recommended , by the way, to share or not take all antibiotics as prescribed by your doctor. Don't stop taking your antibiotics and make sure to complete taking your medication as prescribed even if your feeling better, the infection could get much worse if you do so.

I guess you have asked a veterinarian about it.
