Do you think there's a big one coming?

Philippines
July 5, 2019 1:43am CST
Not sure if people from California were already used to it but a 6.4 earth quake is huge for me. Experts way back were assuming a big one was coming and now some even think a bigger quake comes after this one. Not sure if they were just trying to scare the viewers or being truthful. Well, I think we should pray and be prepared for emergency stuff needed when this hits.

Is the news not true? I guess it is true because there were videos of the destruction.

Hello @acelawrites Were you looking forwards to see videos of destruction? I sure don't want to. here's the proof.
A 6.4 magnitude earthquake, the biggest to hit Southern California in two decades, shook Ridgecrest Thursday. Though it didn’t cause major damage, many are n...

I don't think there will be a big earthquake again in near future. Since 6.4 is already a big earthquake. This won't happen often.

Hello @youless I don't want to be that positive since we don't see what's going on the earth's crust.

As they say in our place is very much overdue for the big one to come on us anytime already. We are lucky it still is not showing yet but I hope I would not experience that in my lifetime. I have experience earthquakes already but they are just small quakes that jolted my but no big quakes yet in my lifetime.

@Letranknight2015 definitely this will indeed affect everyone else if that happens. That’s why local governments are doing drills every now and then to ensure safety of every single person affected. But I doubt there will be no casualties there.

Hello @rsa101 I have felt some small shaking before, but I wish that was it and no big one. It would drastically change our way of life.

Earthquake is unpredictable, actually. When they predict it, it doesn't happen.

Yeah I believe so the best thing to do is to be always prepared. The good thing our government is reminding us about the Big One and we are aware of it.

The most we ever get here is a 4.5 one as we are on a fault line. Once they predicted a bad earthquake right in the middle of the city it never happened but they sure did scare a lot of people. Hope no one has been hurt in California they have not mentioned it over here.

Earthquake damage 2013, Paso Robles
Actually a bigger one has already hit the area again tonight -- a 7.1. I thought I was used to it. I lived in California all my life and never gave a bit a shaking a second thought. That changed in 2013 when we got a 6.6 earthquake here in Paso Robles. It knocked buildings over downtown and one of them fell on a couple of women escaping from the building that fell. It killed them both. It knocked over all the bookcases in my upstairs hall and our front door and my bedroom door were blocked by fallen objects. It's by the grace of God I was not yet out in my warehouse where I was supposed to meet a customer about the time the earthquake happened. I was in the kitchen about to leave. We had a sliding glass patio door there. Had I been anywhere else I would have been trapped in my upstairs office or had tall loaded bookcases falling on me in the warehouse and the door would have been blocked to prevent rescue. Below is one of the pictures I took of my upstairs hall. When my chair started gently shaking tonight it raised an alarm for me and I immediately went on line to see how far away the epicenter was. The earthquake that struck Ridgecrest tonight was even stronger than the one that hit us. I hope it didn't hit a populated area.
