* Tasty-tasty Ravioli for Dinner *

United States
July 7, 2019 11:28pm CST
We're just nearing the end of a long weekend. These 4 days were so much fun. Yesterday, we went to Oakland Zoo and Mayuri had a very great time enjoying there. I will write a separate post on that with some clicks, may be. Today, my husband said he will prepare Ravioli for dinner. He has already tried his hands on other cuisines. Most of his picks for dinner would be awesome. It's my second time I'm having Ravioli for dinner. This was quite filling even with just 5 to 6 pieces. Surprisingly, even Mayuri tasted this so well and she started to like it. This Italian recipe has just stolen my taste buds and really love it. How about you guys? I hope most of you would have done with your meal.. How did your weekend go? Picture - mine. Just before tasting the yummy Raviolis [Updated] : Sorry, I guess my post sounded like those were home made ones. But, it's actually a ready made one. :-)

@smileyhema Is it easy to do?

@rakski This one was ready made ravioli. It's available in a packet. All we have to do is to boil some water and put these pieces and cook for few minutes. We should add salt to this when it's cooking. It's pretty simple to do. But, we haven't tried our hands on home made ones. We should explore that a bit more. :-)

I am Italian and I also make ravioli at home. How are they filled? Cheese or meat?

Oops, sorry Anna! This was a ready made one. It comes in a packet. We just cooked in hot water. The filling portion was with butternut squash as the base. That's nice you prepare at home. How do you do that?

@LadyDuck To be frank with you, I never thought that it could be made at home. :-) Only after you and other folks here asked about that, it struck my mind. Is that easy for a beginner to make those pasta sheets? And that's a great idea with Spinach. I'm sure we will try with that once.

@smileyhema I thought you made them from scratch. I make the pasta sheets first, then I had the filling we like. Sometimes it is meat, other times cheese and spinach.

I am actually not a huge fan of ravioli. But that's just me. That being said there was a restaurant that served a ravioli appetizer that was awesome. But it was LOADED with goodies too.

@smileyhema It was just loaded with meat, cheese and something else and then deep fried. It was really good. And they were huge pieces to boot.

I had tried it once in one of the high end tea party at my friend's house in California. She had used the ready made packet ones. I loved it. I thought that your husband made it from scratch and so wanted to ask for it. But then I read your responses to others. I will find out if there is some recipe online to try making it at home. Thanks for reminding a taste from past.

Oh, that's interesting to know about your experience and those good old memories. Haha! Yes, it was ready made ones. I came to know that @ladyduck does that at home. May be, you can check for the recipe with Anna. That's okay. I'm so glad that this post triggered some good memories from your past.

@arunima25 Oh I see. :-) Even my husband loves to try new recipes. We're foodie too. I mean we enjoy whatever we eat. We discuss on how the dish came out. He will pass genuine comments for improving the dish further. His mom is an exceptional cook. She has magic hands when it comes to cooking. He inherits the same from her. Nowadays, I'm learning all the tricks from my husband too. So I came to a conclusion that - at the end of the day it all comes to "what we ate" rather than "who made that".

@smileyhema I am a foodie or rather we are a family of foodies and good cooks. My husband tries out his hands with all new recipes. But he is more into Indian spicy non veg varieties and I am a vegetarian by choice.

Oops, sorry if that sounded like home made. But that was a ready made one. The filling had butternut squash as the base. We just need to cook in hot water for sometime and top up with any flavors(if required). We added salt and pepper.

@Miss_Leafy Even that was very new to me. But when I saw those for the first time, I started to fall in love with it. The taste also was so promising. I'm very thankful to my husband for introducing these to me. He has tasted almost all cuisines.

That's nice. Even I'm a big foodie. Yes, my husband has a great taste in cooking. He cooks rarely but when he does he will hit nail on my head. He takes cooking as a procedure. He enjoys each and every step in the process. I admire so much from him on that front. Patience in cooking is the one I've learnt from him. Since he travels a lot, he had tasted many cuisines and he suggests those to me quite often. That's so nice and generous of your husband to take care of cooking. He must be a great person in that. Hats-off to him. I appreciate you as well to respect his cooking and give space for him to do that. Many ladies would never give it over completely to the men.

@smileyhema I can cook and did it when the kids were home and he was working, but I knew from even before we married how much he loves to cook. He was in the food industry when we were newly wed and he cooked back then until he got into sports business that kept him late for dinner. Back then the kids were growing up, now he's home (retired) and I love not having to cook.

It looks so yummy and nutritious too.I never had tasted like that. Mine last dinner was Greenwich beef pizza. I bought two big boxes. It's only me who had it as dinner. Other members in the family had dined with other foods life deep fried chicken, and fish fillet with red rice.

It's just "Let me rule it myself" only. Hope your members enjoyed with the other stuffs. Were they not interested to have pizzas?
