I'll bet you're all saying, "Finally. She's done with this category!"
Experts suggest that you shop when the store is less busy; and you will purchase less. I know a lot of you have a list and stick to it; so this is not an issue. They say not to shop on the weekend; but I used to go early on Saturday morning and found that worked out well for me. Everything was stocked; and the stores weren't crowded.
Buying a larger quantity or a larger size doesn't necessarily mean that you're getting a bargain. Check the per ounce or per each prices.
It's almost always cheaper to buy a large cut of meat and have it cut into portions. For example, purchase a chuck roast and have the butcher cut it into stew cubes.
Don't be misled by the term Angus on beef. Go by the USDA quality grade. Prime is best, then choice, select and standard.
Find out when your butcher marks down meat. At most stores it's between 8 and 10 in the morning. Another reason to shop early.
Buy whole T-bone steaks instead of filet mignon. You'll get a filet on each steak, plus you'll have a strip steak on each piece. You'll save several dollars per pound.
If you're worried about what's in your ground meat, buy a roast on sale and have the butcher grind it for you. We have crabby butchers; but don't let that deter you. You have a right to these services.
Carts never get cleaned. Give them a wipe-down with sanitizing wipes. Meat juice leaks on them and babies could also soil the carts. Ewww
I hope you've been able to pick up a couple of tips that you can use! Oh, and if you purchase a freezer to take advantage of sales on meats, fruits and frozen foods, etc., I would recommend a chest freezer. It's a little harder to find things; but you won't lose all that cold air every time you open it like you will with an upright freezer.

@LindaOHio I need to get in the habit of this. Not being a morning person makes this a little hard. Probably not much hope for me there.

Good morning.Market is always busy unless you go when the firs opened up.
I do not buy much meat.Getting away from this.
They have wipes at the market to clean your cart or basket.
Soon you get home unload and wash your hands about three minutes or so.

Good tips! We have an upright freezer and I like it better than the chest kind because I can get to everything better. I don't have to take any food out to get something in the bottom. But everyone likes different things.

I suppose I am one of those people who do not follow the norms. If I go into a store and it is crowded, I am much more likely to grab one or two items that I really need and leave. I do not like crowds. If the store is empty I am able to wander the isles and will buy more, usually stuff that looks good. If the store is crowded, I will not take the time to even look

I'm like that too. I don't like to shop...period; and if the store is crowded, I want to get out of there.
