Even though I lived in Panama from 16.5 years, I have never been through an earthquake. Just two hurricanes in 2005. Cindy and Katrina.

@jakeand Hurricane and tornadoes are deadly since most deaths happen due to the high water drowning a person.

I could do without typhoons (our version of hurricanes) and tornadoes.

@petatonicsca This is serious especially since Indonesia is neighboring Australia and people are panicking but my place very far from these, and Indonesia has experienced many kinds of disasters.

No kidding, I saw that come across my earthquake feed yesterday. That was scary to see, especially when Australia had just had one too.

Yes recently too. It was a rolling feeling though, not a hard shake.

Just a few month ago, I had been through an earthquake. It lasted few minutes and I was at the terminal of jeepneys, waiting for my turn for a ride to go home. I was with my friends and we were all shook and scared, I thought I was just feeling dizzy.

I sometimes feel dizzy in earthquakes too. Japanese has a tem for it, "earthquake sickness". It's actually a form of motion sickness. I had a friend who had it so badly he had to get out of Japan for a couple weeks in 2011 until the aftershocks calmed down.

That is way too high in an earthquake in my opinion! My very first earthquake in Japan I was on the ninth floor and we could see the other tall buildings swaying. They feel different close to the ground, scarier if you ask me.

@petatonicsca We don't live in an earthquake prone area like Japan. That is assured.

I had my first experience of it when I was still in college Although the quake was not that strong in my place since the shaking was not hat strong it swayed back and forth only and I could see the roof of our neighboring buidling moving sideways too. There was not much destruction in my place northern in my place we have had major queake and destruction was overwhelming.

Yes, I have been in them, but lucky very small ones, and no one was hurt. I would hate to have a big one, and people hurt.

Yes, it's awful when people get hurt, especially if it's because of skimpy building codes. I'm glad Japan enforces good building codes. Unfortunately even we have older buildings that are not up to code.

I have been into the earthquake during the childhood. My mother felt the effect of an earthquake during the morning time. We usually sleep on the floor on those days.

Yeah, I have ever been through an earthquake. I was young and it made me so scared. I am glad it was just a mild one.

I have been through Earthquake. I was in the office and felt like the table and things around me jerking a bit for a few seconds. Before I could react, it stopped and before I could ask others, the announcement came to evacuate the office immediately. We all rushed to the safe zone, but then there was no damage, no other issues and after a few minutes we all went back to the office. It happened around 7 years ago. Thanks!

I live in Japan so they are a common occurrence. Still, the bigger ones sometimes make me jump.

Never felt anything more frightening. I've been driving and had the car lurch suddenly beneath me when one hit. Another I was home and it felt like the house was going to shake apart. I could not get out of the Los Angeles California area fast enough.
