Sloppy Day Thanks to Barry: Rain and Tornados

We had a fairly calm night here following Hurricane Barry, which has now been downgraded back down to a tropical storm, with just a steady but moderate rain overnight. However, we woke up to multiple tornado warnings and watches in both Louisiana and Mississippi. Our latest in Mississippi just expired but we will have another one soon. The blessing in this storm is that the rainfall has not been what was predicted. This was a major concern with the Mississippi River and other local rivers being at flood stage already. Let's hope and pray that the rainfall today and tonight stays on the light to the moderate stage and will not cause any major flooding. I hope you are all having better weather today than we are. Only 74 degrees here today. Sadly, we could not get outside and enjoy it with tornado warnings and rain.

I'm happy to hear the rain was not as bad as they had predicted. But still, any rain you get is not helping the situation with the saturated ground and swollen rivers. But any bit of good news is good news nonetheless.

Also, the fact that the system is moving north and adding to the rivers which flow south. Hopefully, it will all work out.

@kareng Yeah, I was thinking about that. It's just going to keep adding to the misery as it travels north. Sadly, all that water is going to eventually make it's way back down to you.

I sure hope the rain isn't heavy and that you have no flooding. It is hot here. You could send us some of your rain.

I wish I could. We have had enough for the whole year if it was spaced out. Wet spring and summer here.

@velvet53 Rain, rain, rain. A lot of areas are under flash flood warnings today. At least tornadoes are not popping up everywhere like yesterday so can rest a bit easier.

Hopefully, everything stays calm and not much disaster happens. It is hot and dry here, there are sometimes clouds but they have nothing in them.

I'm just ready to get rid of all the rain. It has been a wet summer so far and this didn't help.

Here in our major cities especially where water dams are located, the residents are praying for more rains to fill the dams to its level enough to supply the water needs of the people.

This storm is not in the west. Lousiana, Mississippi and yesterday Alabama and now moving northeast. You must have had another storm.

We are supposed to have thunderstorms tonight and rain all day tomorrow. Today was light, or at least here today. We did have a few rounds of heavy rain but it did not last long. I love the cool weather, I just wish I could be outside in the sun to enjoy it. The high was 74 today.

Hope things don't get worse there with Barry and the rain stays on the lighter side. We have a beautiful sunny day here which makes me feel guilty for saying it

West Australia has had a 6.5 earthquake but luckily it was out to sea and there were not huge amounts of damage on the coast. However, goods were toppled of shelves in stores,
