My Stubborn Neighbor

My neighbor behind me was taken to the hospital last Thursday. He has severe heart issues and that worries me. I find him sleeping in his scooter in some pretty heavy hot sun. They brought him home today and two hours later I see police cars outside. I wet outside to take care of my yard and there was a policeman standing there. He asked me if I knew my neighbor pretty well. I said yes then he asked if I would come and talk to my neighbor. So off I went to talk to the stubborn ole guy. Someone had called for help for him. When I got there he was telling them that he didn't want to go to the hospital. I asked him if he wanted to live or die. I got his attention because he let them take him back to the hospital.

I use that line as well. To the real stubborn ones I have asked what color of coffin would you like? You did good!

Oh boy that was tough one you have to deal with them. I think when you ask him whether to live or die was his turning point that he realizes he needs medical attention and doesn't want to die. I hope he made okay in the hospital .

I canĀ“t think of anyone that really wants to go to a hospital but when it comes to situations like that its a must and in any case he would be back home in no time. Great that you could talk him into it.

@velvet53 I think that most feel the same too that feeling that your life is sort of not your own while you are in there.

@lovinangelsinstead21 That is a good way to put it. Sometimes I would feel so helpless. All I wanted to do was be in my own home.

@crazyhorseladycx he wanted out of the hospital so he left against their orders. Some community bus brought him home. He lives alone so it is just us neighbors to watch and make sure he is doing ok. He needs to be put in a home where he can be watched 24/7.

@velvet53 i'm wonderin' why the let him go? who brought that ol' fella home? does he live 'lone? i dunno, i refused 'dmission quite a few times when i first fell ill. told 'em i'd jest rather pass't home 'n the hubs rent a backhoe than to deal with their incompetence that'd gotten me to that place to start with.

@HazySue I bet they hadn't either. The look on their faces was funny. Later after the ambulance left I talked to two of the officers. They thanked me for what I had done. I told them if I was ever that stubborn about going to the hospital I hope some one would do the same thing.
